There is now a strong football rivalry in the city for the first time since I've been a blue (two decades) and I think it's great. We got the upper hand last night in this tie but over the past year or two we've had some classic matches and hopefully it continues.

Next week can't come soon enough!

have to agree with not been able to wait for next weeks match.. really enjoyed last nights match even though we did lose..

Weiss is gone out on loan. good young player but definatly needs more time on the pitch. hopefully this will see him getting the work he needs that its more unlikely hell get at the club these days.

Toure and Ade back tonight, might possibly see Toure and Kompany in the center for us. I cant see Ade starting, but a second player playing just below teve maybe?

Viera still out so im expecting DeJong and Barry to play holding midfield.

Would love to watch this, but no chance. Will kill me

    Just an after thought:

I thought Dedryk Boyatta was brilliant tonight. Really impressed me.

Oh, and imo Nigel De Jong is your best player. Unreal battler.

De Jong is the type of guy United miss - great player.

Would love himself and Ireland in the United midfield.

Yeah we were laughed at when we shelled out for De Jong in the window last year but he is immense.

Been a long time since we had a battler like him in the middle of the park.

laughed at purely cause you could have got him for a fraction of the cost a few months later, not cause he was considered to be a bad player.

On SSN that 'according to Sky Sources' City have bid for Adam Johnson.

Good prospect - think City would be the wrong move for him though. City have too many players in his position.

But at that price competition would have been fierce in the summer and we would've lost out. Sensible in the long run.

maybe, but we needed someone like him pretty badly, and look how much the team has improved since he arrived!

enough that you couldn't wait a few months though? Think you paid 12million extra.

Of course it doesn't matter to City, they wanted their man and they got their man, the amount doesn't matter at all to them. It is still funny looking in from the outside cause you paid 6 or 7 times more to buy him a few months early.

Forgetting about what was paid for him (as it doesn't matter) he has been an excellent signing no argument and would walk into 18 of the other sides in the league imo.

Indeed, Was well impressed with that Boy Atta......(Initially I thought the commentator were saying that Boy Atta until I seen his jersey.......
A very decent looking player all things considered (one performance, young etc etc)

De Jong has always been a decent player. Money doesnt come into it (yet) with City so I dont think it matters what they paid for him.

Why would they have waited until the summer when more clubs were probably going to be in for him? City were right to pay what they did when they did instead of risk not getting him in the summer.

Plus, with some the sums we have paid over the past year, the sums paid for him, bellers and Shay were the most worthwhile.

    And Him by a longshot!

    Him is a legend alright!

Although the 2 of them havent reallt gelled as we would have wished,we really really missed Kolo and Lescott last night,as they said on MOTD,Kompany was doing 2 people jobs.I like Mancini's faith in Boyata but come on,we were on the verge of getting to a final,I would have started Nedum back there(or Nedum RB with Micah in the centre).Garrido aswell is a liability and the sooner we get Bridge back the better. With a full back 4 and Motta(supposedly) coming in I reckon we could be alright.

Another thing was Zabaleta, whats the point of having him there when De jong and Barry are there? Someone better like Ireland or else petrov on tne wing attacking Rafael with bellers upfront would have been better,I know we where trying to hold our 1st leg advantage but you might aswell not play Zabs then play him there imo.

Upfront I still think we need a new striker, someone more like tevez then adebayor I just dont think the 2 of them are going to work week in week out and if we have benjani comin off the bench when it doesnt work we are right fooked.

All in all the better team last night won,as soon as we scored as much as it pains me to say! It was just a case of when theyd score rather then if.A new striker and new defender will hopefully put us in good stead for the rest of the season(and the FA cup!! :D )

Have to say DeJong has looked much better for City than I expected him to be. He's playing with an urgency that I'd never seen in him before (mainly from watching his international performances). He's still quite limited on the ball though.

City insisting on Gillet. Mancini has clearly decided to buy half of Italy.

Gillet is'nt a half bad keeper, but its a bit of a random move.

You seem not bothered that in the biggest game of the current owners career , you didn't turn up once again ?The 1st leg you were pretty average too but one would think second leg with all to play for, you might have actually attacked the game ? City bar a defender or two actually made this a stroll.200m will only get you so many semis, decent teams will always pop up....:D

I'm not sure what point you are trying to make, and it just looks like you're here for a cheap dig a few days later but I'll humour you.

We lost in the final minute to the current cup holders, league champions and Champions League finalists. We finished mid table last year and didn't even make Europe. I'm not sure what your expectations of us are but we City fans are a little bit more realistic.

And I don't understand how you've come to the the conclusion that I'm not bothered. Did you read the match thread at all?

Oh and FYI, I didn't even go to work the day after the game I was that gutted.

I've been following this for the past few days and it's now made the press proper -

    http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/news/711830/Rivals-target-Man-U-supporter-accused-of-Craig-Bellamy-coin-attack.html
    City hits the fan

Rivals target Man U supporter accused of Craig Bellamy coin attack

FOOTBALL'S coming home for the Manchester United fan accused of throwing a coin at Man City striker Craig Bellamy.

In fact, it's coming right to his front door.

For Red Devils supporter Adam Teese is feeling the flipside of his alleged coin attack - with furious City fans bombarding his house with pranks.

Adam's name and address were released by police after the season ticket holder was charged with throwing a coin at Bellamy during the Manchester derby last week.

And within 24 hours, the enraged blue half of Manchester had ordered him £150-worth of pizzas, a skip, rat exterminators and TWO PROSTITUTES.

The barrage of jokes didn't end there either. City supporters also:

    * Ordered him a bronze statue of WINSTON CHURCHILL.
    * Sent a salesman to estimate the cost of an INDOOR SWIMMING POOL.
    * Booked him a performance by SQUEAKY THE CLOWN.

Details of the pranks began surfacing on supporters' forums. Despite later being removed by Man City website Blue Moon, they were still picked up by other clubs.

This resulted in yet more misery for 26-year-old Adam, who lives with his parents.

As well as a bouncy castle, a call from an Avon representative, a breakdown truck and a puppet show, he was also treated to a 1957 Pink Cadillac complete with Elvis-style chauffeur.

But dad Joseph, 55, raged: "We've had no end of trouble - I've had to take time off work to deal with it."

Teese will appear before Trafford Magistrates on February 9 accused of "throwing a missile on to the pitch" during the Carling Cup Semi- Final second leg at Old Trafford.

Mum Deborah insists her son is innocent, adding: "I was sat next to him and he did not throw anything. We actually had to duck when a bottle was thrown over us!"

Last night a Greater Manchester Police spokeswoman said: "Officers are investigating the incidents."

Here's the list in full -
A 4ft statue of Winston Churchill, allowing 14 days to decide if you like it in your house.
Enquiring as to the availability of combine harvesters in the area
A 1957 cadillac in pink with an Elvis driver
    1.5 Tonnes of manure
Morning tea session with Jehovas witnesses, in Latvian at 4am
''An appointment with demolition experts for the destruction of his house

    Enterprise and rental vehicles
The re-tarmac'ing of his drive starting at 6am
''Some kind person has ordered him a few curries and pizzas using just-eat.co.uk with takeaways delivering to SK4 area. I hope he's hungry.''
"His drives gonna be busy then. No idea where this 24 seater coach is gonna park."
    Ocean Finance
Cash Loan - And an Agent going round to his house to discuss the terms.
''I've ordered a daffy duck bouncy castle and a puppet show outside on his lawn.''

''Gold4u have been contacted, err, a few times. I hope he has unwanted gold.''
    20 pizzas for tomorrow night
''There may or may not be an escort on there way round. Bet Mr Pimp wont be happy when he finds out it was a hoax.''
''Heard he will be having his garden tarmacked next week. They are starting early as they want to get it finished as they have another job to do.''

I know its off topic and I apologise, but if i post in the fantasy football thread my main rivals will know what im up to. Plus I figure you guys will know best....

Who would be a better option to bring in for the next 2 gws? i.e. who's more likely to play/score more points out of SWP, Barry, Petrov and Ireland?

If you don't want to discuss ff here then fair enough, I won't bother you again.

Petrov, Ireland, SWP, Barry - in that order.

With Petrov back in favour, he's more likely to score or get an assist. SWP has been underperforming in recent weeks and with Ireland back playing he's usually good for an assist. I think he got one today? Wouldn't consider Barry, very few assists and goals this year.
TBH, don't know anything about him.. Is this a good buy???
Would be a fantastic buy, he's a huge talent. He's probably one of the best left footed British players around. Has a lethal shot, can play both wings, score, cross, all you need from a wide player. Decent free-kick taker too, if you don't have enough already.

So the McDonald deal fell through due to a WP issue and he signed for Inter, a real shame as he sounds like a real talent. Still chuffed with the Johnson signing, I havn't been too convinced by Petrov this season at all, I accept that he's being played on the Right but he seems very greedy at times and he doesn't put in the best of shifts.

Not too disappointed with no other signings as i do think we have a great squad in place and good enough to grab a 4th place. Three very important games on teh way up also, hopefully max points and keep the momentum going. Was a poor enough performance against pompy bt 3 points in the bag is all that matters I guess.

There was a technical issue on deadline day.

Benji seems to be making a habit of deadline day, last minute moves. Remember when he moved to us 2 years ago. He was supposed to have missed the flight from Portsmouth to Manchester. A lot of blues were convinced that he didn't really want to come to us. Still, he will always be remembered for bagging the second goal at OT on his debut. Nice one Smiler, and good luck at the Mackems!

Bellamy beaten up by Man United fan

Manchester City star Craig Bellamy has been left *battered and bruised after being attacked by a *Man United fan.

The fiery Wales *international, 30, suffered a black eye and grazed face during the attack last *Saturday after City’s 2-1 defeat at Hull.

The thug struck Bellamy outside the Panacea bar in Alderly Edge, Cheshire, where he had been drinking with pals including team-mate Wayne Bridge.

An onlooker said: “He whacked him from behind and Craig fell to the floor. Bouncers jumped in straight away and the guy was carted off.”

Police attended but *Bellamy did not wish to press charges. A source said: “He said he hit Craig because he was a Man U fan and Craig plays for City.”

The incident comes after Bellamy was hit with a coin during a tense Carling Cup semi-*final between City and United last month.

    Absolute scummer.

He hit Bellamy from behind. A typical coward's trick. I hope Craig isn't too badly affected; we need him back ASAP. We were woeful yesterday (in fact we've been poor the last few matches). At least AJ will be available again on tuesday night. He looks a fantastic prospect.

Suppose will give him something to do. A lot of fish to feed by all accounts ;)
    anyway full story below
Soccer star Stephen Ireland and his mammoth £100,000 fish tank

FOOTBALLER Stephen Ireland’s extravagant tastes have often been the subject of jibes from fans.

Now he has splashed out £100,000 on Britain’s biggest domestic fish tank.

The Manchester City midfielder, 23, is regularly lampooned for his bizarre fashion, including a Range Rover with pink alloy wheels and a garish £264,000 Bentley for his girlfriend.

Now the Irish star has had a 6,000-litre aquarium installed during an interior refit of his £5million mansion.

It is made from plastic, not glass, so it can withstand a hit from an errant ball flying off the nearby pool table, which has been customised with “Ireland” printed on the baize.

It is home to 500 exotic fish including yellow tangs, wrasses and pineapple fish, and also contains half a ton of coral shipped in from Fiji.

The custom-built acrylic tank is also fitted with Wi-fi and a high-tech computer system so that the £70,000-a-week footballer and his girlfriend Jessica Lawlor, 24, can control it via their mobiles and the internet.

Ireland, who has been fascinated by exotic fish since he was a child, described the tank, the centrepiece of the lobby of his home in Prestbury, Cheshire, as “immaculate”. He said: “It’s a breathtaking tank. When *people come to the door and see the tank, their first reaction is ‘wow’.

“There’s a lot more to it than just glass and water. It’s very complicated with the pumps and water system we have.

“The guys that have done it are top-class and it’s immaculate.”

Ireland’s salt-water fish tank, which measures 13ft by 3ft and stands 8ft high, is believed to be the biggest *privately-owned aquarium in Britain.

The tank comes complete with mahogany *cabinetry and leather panelling.

A spokesman for Aquarium Architecture, which designed and built the aquarium, said: “Stephen is passionate about tropical fish.

“His knowledge and genuine enthusiasm makes it a pleasure to work for him.”

Ireland became notorious for his luxury lifestyle in October last year when he bought girlfriend Jessica the quarter-of-a-million-pound Bentley for her 24th birthday.

The GTC soft-top was decked out in a custom red-and-white paint job with love hearts and “To Jess love from Stephen” embroidered on the tailored leather seats.
