Do Leaving Cert points expire?

Hey, I'm toying with the idea with returning to college and I'm not quite old enough to get in as a mature student just yet. But I was wondering if anybody could tell me if Leaving Cert points have an expiration? I sat mine in 2001.

I think the LC might loose it's importance after you get to the "mature student" age (23?). Amn't totally sure though, sorry.
