    You could only judge on condition on the car. We've had a few 200k cars and they all need tlc and a sympathtic driver to keep them going.

    Engine wise assuming they have some sort of service history, it should be ok if looked after and serviced on time. Though at that mileage pistons could be on the way out. Check for blue smoke which would be an indication it is burning oil.

    Where you could also potentially spend alot of money is with other components is brakes, clutch, suspension, steering, timing belt and the cat converter.

    It might be worth it if you could pick up a donor Carina cheap from a scrap yard for parts too.

    That Carina is overpriced, a diesel may be worth that much crashed, but not a petrol.

    Wow, if I'd seen that Prilera before you I'd have been in. Looks like a tidy motor for a grand.. spend a few quid replacing the shocks and probably a few other bits here and there and you'd have a perfectly good car for at least another 50000!
