flash is a massive program altogether.
what vein of it are you interested in? animation, games, websites?

i bought a book a few years ago "the flash mx bible" cost me about 60e at the time, you might get it on ebay cheap.
other than that, i'd say figure out what side of it interests you and google tutorials for it.

    good luck.

i think newground.com may have some basic tutorials on their site too

As spidermonkey mentioned flash is huge and a very difficult program to get your head around. Other than the sites spider mentioned http://lukamaras.com/index.html has some decent tutorials to help you on your way.

This used to be a good site, I have not checked it out for a while though:

    www.flashkit.com

"Friends of Ed's" books are pretty good too (despite the name :))

There are some cheapo Flash programs apart from the Macromedia one, I used to use Swish before going out to buy the other one.

If you're more interested in animation side of things Toon Boom studio might be worth checking out http://www.toonboom.com/

Its relatively cheap and gives you some great results.
