English poetry- Sylvia Plath

We started studying Plath in English yesterday and a lot of the lads in my class aren't happy about it at all. They find the poems both too complicated and too depressing. I had heard similar reports from classes who had covered her earlier in the year. I, on the other hand, am quite enjoying it, and so I was wondering…

Try having a teacher who did nothing in detail besides the poetry(we did read through Macbeth and Reading in the Dark briefly, but did nothing else besides that for Paper 2), then goes off on maternity leave and leaves us with the retired ex-vice principal of my school as a sub, who is a very experienced English teacher and is shocked at the amount of work left to do.

I fúckin hate poetry, don't get it at all. Though if I had to pick one poet, it would be Plath, cause at least there is one obvious theme to her poems.

Plath is actually my strongest poet...

But I think that is because she is my teachers favourite and drilled everything about her into our heads.
