    I have to replace the power switch on a Dell Dimension 4550 and want to know which two pins on the board are for the power ?

    Email dell support or check their forums.
    If it's under warrantly, bitch and moan till they sort you out.

    Or even quicker, look at the 2 leads coming out of the back of the switch (if possible, check the colours, see where the colours come out at the other end (connector).
    There's probably a sheath over the wire, but the wires should be expose near the bottom.

    Failing that, go into maplin and buy a momentary switch and some heatshrink and solder on a new switch to the leads from the old switch (switch-end of wires).

    This is price for buying (needlessly) proprietary equipment.

    It's no longer under warrantly, tried Dell support and no reply and no colour leads as its a flex that runs from the board to the front panel switch.

    If you can disassemble the front-panel and examine the pcb (circuitboard) for the switches+leds etc., you may be able to figure out which pins, or even just solder leads from your replacement switch onto the solder spots/mountings for the broken switch.

    Might not be pretty, but should work unless the broken switch is something other than a push-to-close momentary switch.

    Take a few photos if you can, I'm not au fait with recent Dells.
