Since I updated to 6.1.0.2 I'm stuck on region 2 dvds. I realise I should never have bothered updating as I have them patched but I never had any trouble with Anydvd before, always found it to be an excellent program so what gives?

Will the DVDs play with VLC media player?

    No luck with that either.

Arghh this is really starting to annoy me now. I still have 3 region changes left on my laptop but they won't last for very long if I don't get this problem fixed.

Bugger! u didnt change any of the default settings or tinker with AnyDVD to get it workin on ur previous version? Unless the new version isnt uninstalling fully. Maybe the prob could be a registry key and the previous version is using that one, hence causing this error.

You can probably get firmware for your DVD ROM drive to remove the region lock altogether.

    Woo problem solved! :)

I had the crazy idea of using up one of my 3 remaining default region changes to switch back to region 1, and thankfully Anydvd is now functioning properly again and still able to run region 2 DVDs.

Thanks for your suggestions Ruu and B_Man, always appreciated.

    Never updating again!

It appears I was a bit hasty in my celebrations. :(

I can play Region 2 DVDs but only the ones that that my original Anydvd had already removed the security codes from.

For my new Region 2 DVDs I continue to get that annoying error message...

    I hate computers.

I just read up on that, no thanks!

Sounds a bit too risky seeing as I wouldn't really have a clue what I'm doing.

What drive do you have? It's really very simple to unlock many of them.
