I have been working with Blogger for several years now but Im in no way
technical with the stuff. I have for the last 4 or 5 days been
attemting to transfer my custom domain onto my blogger blog with no
success and very little help or support. First of all I havent heard of
Google Apps before so when you read about Google Apps this and that as
part of the domain transfer you hit a brick wall, well I did anyway.

Can anyone give me clear step by step instructions on how to go about
this, right from what I should do in Google Apps through to getting the
blog published on my custom domain.

There is alot of contradictions in all the different help areas I have
looked at. GoDaddy have been so useless that I will be transferring all my
business elsewhere when I get this job done.

surely all you need to do is to update your dns settings within your godaddy.com admin panel and have it point to either your username.blogger.com account or some other URL that google will supply you with?

I don't have a blogger a/c or a godaddy a/c so I don't know of any specific settings or requirements.

Have you had a look on the Blogger Forum for support?
