I'm heading down to waterford early next week for a short break with my boyfriend. Can anyone recommend nice things to do in the city while we're there?

    Thanks

What are ye interested in pubs/clubs/local history/beaches etc. ?
Also where ye are staying could have an impact.

    Staying in the marina hotel.

Any attractions really, shopping districts, historical places.

Pubs and restraunts also for night time!

    thanks for the reply

    Historical
    - A walk around the outskirts of the town following the old city walls where possible (not much wall left now though :( )
    - Reginalds Tower, The Quay
    - Waterford Treasures/The Granary, The Quay

    Attractions
    - Waterford Crystal, Cork Road
    - Comeragh mountains (if your driving, not really the weather for it though)

    Shopping Districts
    - City Square (Debenhams, River Island, Pull & Bear, Next, Topshop, Pepe, Monsoon and others)
    - Georges Court (Route 66, Tony Roche Menswear and others)
    - Red Square

    Resteraunts
    - Eastenders (Indian, The Quay)
    - La Palma (Italian, The Quay)
    - Brasserie (Outside City Square)
    - Johnny Fans (Chinese)
    - Wine Vault
    - Bodega

    Resteraunts (slightly outside the city)
    - Kongs (chinese)
    - Johnny Fans (another branch of aforementioned)

Bars Worth A Visit (all within walking distance of the clubs)
    - T&H Dolans
    - The Bank
    - The Stand
    - Da Vincis
    - The Wacky Apple
    - The 3 Shippes
    - The Kazbar
    - Electric Avenue
    - Geoffs
    - Revolution (also do a great pub lunch, quiz night every monday, comedy night every tuesday)
    - Harveys
    - Downs's

    Bars (slightly outside the city)
    - Oskars
    - Uluru
    - Jack Meades (more of a summer place really)

    Clubs
    - 10
    - Rubys
    - Oxygen
    - The Bowery
    - The Forum

    Other Mentions
    - Dunmore East, Scenic fishing village, 20 mins drive from the city
    - Tramore, seaside resort and beach, quiet this time of year, 15 mins drive from city, or regular busses. Nice for a walk by the beach.
(Other beaches worth a mention are Stradbally, Bunmahon, Annestown, Boatstrand)

OK. Thats all I can think of off the top of my head, i'm sure some of the regulars will advise and ad more to that list.
The Place your staying is very central, only a short walk to the actual city "centre".

Granary Museum on the Quay is good if you're interested in history. Tuk Tuk Thai if you're looking for a thai restraunt. Three Shippes is nice pub all near the Marina Hotel.

If your driving.. a trip out to Dunmore East would be worth it.... Woodstown Beach is quiet good also for a romatic stroll depending on the weather of course.

Further out you have the Comeragh Mountains and Mahon Falls with the Fairy Bush and the Magic Road

    =====Edit===
C-13 you bet me to it

Are most things in the city quite central? (I won't have a car down there)

    Your welcome, enjoy waterford.

With regards to everything being central - Yes.
Your hotel is a few mins walk from either the bus or train station, and all the bars that arent listed as being outside the city are within walking distance. Dunmore east and the comeraghs are a no-no if your not driving though.

The Marina Hotel is a bit more then a few minutes walk from the train or bus station, I'd say it's at least a 20 minute walk so if you're carrying heavy bags you might want to grab a taxi.

Well fair point about the train station, that probably far enough with bags.
The bus station surely isnt 20 mins away ? 5 at most.

i'd say it is nearer to the Twenty minutes from the Bus station.. definately 15 min walk and add a few more for heavy bags
