Want to build a custom rig for gaming. I don't want to go overboard though because of the budget I'm on. Unfortunately, because I value my eyesight, I'll have to include an LCD moniter in to it all too. I'll need a wireless network card too, maybe because I haven't decided where to put this yet when I build it. I was maybe thinking something along the lines of:

    AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ 2.4GHz Socket AM2 1MB, BOXED w/fan, 65W
    €215

    ABIT KN9 Ultra, nForce 570 Ultra, Socket-AM2, DDR2, GbLAN, ATX, PCI-Ex16
    €105

    Corsair Value S. PC5300 DDR2 1024MB Kit w/two matched Value Select 512MB
    €119

    Samsung SpinPoint T166 320GB SATA2 16MB 7200RPM
    €92.01

Turbine Gaming case, Sidedoor with 250mm Fan, Midi tower (Without PSU)
    http://komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=323394
    €57

    XFX GeForce 7900GS 525M 256MB GDDR3, XT-X, PCI-Express, 525/1550Mhz, 2xDVI
    €209

XION Powersupply ATX 500W Retail SLI, LxWxH mm(163x150x85) Blue LED, 20+4 pin
    http://komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=320546
    €85

    LG 17" LCD L1752S-SF TCO-03 Monitor, Silver, 1400:1, 8ms
    http://komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=326277
    €199

    Total comes to about €1080.

Advice is needed. Not really sure about which PSU to go for, which moniter or which case to go for, in terms of value for money. All input and criticism welcome.

If you know anything about overclocking drop the 4600 to a 4200. As even the extra cache with these chips makes hardly any difference, untill it comes to dvd encoding and video editing. and the 4200+ will happily sit at 2,8ghz. So thats saves you lots of money, and you get the performance of a fx-62 then some. also i would reccomend you change the psu for a seasonic or corsair model, 450W will be more then enough for you.

Or go with the option above.

With the money you have saved, change the ram to something like geil 6400 cl3/4

This is what I would go for in terms of best bang per buck.

    From Dabs.ie
    Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 €222
    MSI P965 mobo €112
    1GB Corsair DDR-2 667 €108
    Maxtor Diamondmax 10 200GB €64
    Akasa Black Midi-Tower €50
    ATI X1950 Pro €188
Akasa Ultra Quiet 500W PSU €90
19" LCD BenQ FP191G+ €214 - one of the best 1280x1024 gaming displays.

Total price €1048 with change to spare for delivery (+ a WiFi card) and definitely a better system overall.

    Nice spec 8T8.

Would also have a look at an antec sonata II case + 450W PSU for 110 euro on dabs as an option.

    Great case, dacent PSU.

I would go for 8T8 spec, the only thing i would change is the PSU and get a Seasonic PSU as i make them out to be one of the best you can get. And there PSU dont have to put a hole in your pocket.
http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=323013 or get the 500watt for an extra 40euros

Generally same as Dabs UK except prices are in Euro & there isn't the full range of product Dabs UK has like the TV's and other home electronics are missing.

Binomate the one thing if on a budget is get everything from the same place as you will get hit by delivery charges and the like if getting bit's from different shops, that's why I went with the Akasa case & PSU they aren't fancy but they are cheap/reliable & quiet. (okay not so much the PSU in terms of cost but Dabs don't have a lot of choice in the that area that I would recommend).
