Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,
I recently got a Sony Ericsson W300i and i'm trying to transfer music i've saved in my computer (burned from CDs) onto it. It came with PC suite which doesn't seem to be the right thing exactly. From the website i think i should be using 'Disc2phone' but i don't think it came with the phone. Also, the website suggests you need an internet connection which i don't have and didn't think i needed as i only want to transfer files from My Music.

    Anyone help please?

    you'll need one of these:

    1. a data cable

    2. a usb bluetooth adapter

    3. a usb infra red adapter

    4. a memory card reader

i'd advise a data cable since you can do more with the phone than a memory card reader and its faster than BT or IR.

the pc suite software is what you need afaik. someone might correct me on that but i doubt it

and you shouldn't need an internet connection

You can download disc2phone from www.sonyericsson.ie in the support section under downloads. I did for my W850i.

Thanks, I don't know about adaptors but a usb cable came with the phone and i had it attached. I clicked on 'transfer files' on the phone and i tried drag/drop from the My Music files to the icon for the phone card (there is a little memory card in the side of the phone) but when i disconnected everything later to check for the 4 albums i was looking for, i couldn't find them anywhere on the phone. That's as much as the info that came with the phone told me. Now i'm well able to transfer to an mp3 player but this has me stumped!

    Anyone? I'm desperate.....

as far as i know you have to put the music in a specific folder. just dragging it to the card isn't enough. there should be a few folders with weird names on the card already. look in them until you find one called mp3 or something similar. it should be obvious

Thanks! I'll try all that. Believe it or not, it didn't occur to me to see if there were folders in the card, duh!

The SE is very strict about the folder hierarchy and somewhat strict about the bitrate for mp3's. You need to use music folder / Artist / Album / songs. Disc2Phone does it automatically but will always re-encode the music anyway which takes extra time.

I find the sd card plugged into my laptop the quickest to transfer.

Wouldn't you think SE should have included disc2phone in the phone package? I can download it but have no internet where i live. It would have been so much easier if they had included the CD like they did with Pc Suite.

    I'm so narked now....
