    Reading the Wasp Factory by Iain Banks why does this Auther also go by the name Iain M Banks for some of his latest stuff?

    I.e. Iain Banks aka Iain M Banks?

    Iain M Banks = Science Fiction

    Ian Banks for fiction and Ian M Banks for Sci-fi

    He is a good author and as the others have pointed out he writes science fiction as Iain M. Banks, fiction as Iain Banks. If you enjoy sf then give his Culture series a try.

    I've a feeling he also uses another variation of his name for non-ficiton stuff but can't remember properly.

    BTW: The Wasp Factory is a great book I hope you enjoy it backtoblack.

    The Crow Road is good.

    Great TV series too - Iain Banks even said the tv adaptation was better than his book.
