Oh, I dunno, that means I'll have to sell another 15 prints for cover the cost of the second pitch :p

Actually, if jaquian's slot is still available...I'll take it...I'm technically on call but what the hell...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,819 ✭✭✭rymus

    groovy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,219 ✭✭✭Calina

Merde. Now I'll have to figure out how to mount them in a hurry. My set up on the beach isn't going to work here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 771 ✭✭✭Rojo

I don't know if I've already posted here, but I shall be attending! My mudder got me a space as a present AAAAGES ago, so I'm right at the start. Number 3! :-)

Hopefully I'll get time to wander about and check out all your slots out..! Really looking forward to it, but I'm a tad nervous as I haven't really got anything done yet!!!

    Oh - I'm next to paudie's surfing shots...there's a coincidence.

incidentally, who do I owe 15 quid to?

    That'd be me...

Mounts, backing board, plastic bags arrived today, so that's a relief. Purchased receipt book (ever the optimist  ), price labels and clear plastic sheet in case it rains. Will starting mounting the photos tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,819 ✭✭✭rymus

jeez you're all hugely prepared for sales... I'm delighted in that I got everything I need to display the photos on time, nevermind selling any :D

Uh huh! I'd hate to miss an opportunity to fleece a pin striped exec. So no price stickies from me!

Just mentioned to Simon, seeing as the forecast is good, maybe we should order a lorry of sand. Dump it on the footpath in our vicinity. Set up a beach like they did in Paris a few years ago??????.................. No?........................ Alright so.

Guy behind the counter in the photo shop said there's radio ads and everything for this event. Says everyone's talking about it. Anyone heard any?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,819 ✭✭✭rymus

Id say he's pulling your leg.. Unless of course it's just being advertised on Dublin radio and theyre skillfully avoiding the nationwide stations.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,063 ✭✭✭GristlyEnd

I heard on 98fm that there is a wildlife photo exhibition on at St. Stephens Green this weekend and it's the first time it's been allowed by Dublin City Council

Price labels are now name tags. Free to boards people.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,819 ✭✭✭rymus

    woo!

I was going to make the potentially horribly unpopular suggestion that we distinguish ourselves as boards people on the day... but err, I'll get my coat

The "wildlife" being the subject or the creators????

Doesn't 98FM inhabit a parallel universe? At least the music and the breakfast presenters sound intergalactic.

Anyway, I have to go and print some photographs tomorrow at lunch time. And figure out how I'm going to present them. I suspect Easons are going to get some money out of me again this week.

I had a tasteful wee sign last year, to identify myself as a boardsie... maybe I'll get one of those badge making machines for this year though :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,819 ✭✭✭rymus

I saw that.. twas tasteful alright. Badge making machines you say? How highly interesting...

Ok I'm in my usual last minute panic ...

Does anyone know ap lace in Dublin where you can walk in off the street and buy Mounts, Backing Boards and Bags ?

...or does anyone have any excess I can purchase ?

... perferrably someone in the Dublin area ... since I need to get all this done by Friday evening ...

Actually, I'm in the exact same situation. HELP.

I know, all my own fault.

I have a few mounts, but badly need fresh mounts, backings and bags. Ok, I can probably live without the bags.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,819 ✭✭✭rymus

whats the obsession with buying bags?

You could try Regency Framing in Baldoyle Industrial estate (it'll be drive & park as opposed to walk in off the street...)

I have some excess, not much but it should help if anyone wants them.

    5, 16" x 20" mounts snow white, image size A3
    5, 16" x 20" backing cards
    5, 16" x 20" bags with 30mm flap

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,819 ✭✭✭rymus

out of interest... what are your backing cards made from? Are they just plain ol mountboard or what?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,373 ✭✭✭Fionn

oh!! i forgot about this....well i didn't forget! sorta put it on the long finger - well i forgot to remember it sort of

ok, the mounts i've seen in Woodies - pretty cheap too, i presume theres a Woodies in Dublin . there is :)

they don't have A3 ones tho!! so any A3 I print will have to just lay there without anything. It's not that much of a problem anyway I cant see much to print out :(
I suppose for backing - any properly cut card will do?

as for prices i don't know what to do there. Will you all have multiple copies of your photographs? and if yes how many should i have?
I cant print out til Friday sometime, at least i can take some shots between then and now :)

on the question of a sign - I have a logo that incorporates a shutter and the BOARDS.IE logo - made it up ages ago for a flickr/Boards badge thing, if anyones interested i'll check it out!!

the only other thing is would anyone like to offer a cultchie someplace to doss down for the night??? :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,272 ✭✭✭✭Paulw

Ok, mounts and backing now sorted (thanks Simon).

J&J Frames in Ranelagh, opposite LUAS stop

Made to measure, and works out about €3 per unit (A4 print or 12x8)

Sounds good to me, so I've ordered my few there. Worth checking out for those who are last minute buyers (like us).

Nothing special, just 1.45mm grey pulpboard. Does the job.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,819 ✭✭✭rymus

I see.. I'll have to see if I can get some of that before friday.. Was going to use mountboard, but I'd say that'd be more expensive.

I have 5 left over if you want. 16" x 20" but could be cut down if needed. When you coming up to Dublin?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,819 ✭✭✭rymus

Friday night.. Funnily enough, I'm looking for enough board to make into 5 20x16 backings :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 657 ✭✭✭Benster

Darren - Any chance I could bagsie two of those 16x20's ? If possible, I'd be able to get them off you on Saturday if you're at the show. And what price you looking, inc. backing boord?

    Cheers,

    B.

Ryan, I still have 5 backing cards left over which you are welcome to. I will be at the green around 8.30am on Saturday.

They have mounts in woodies on the naas road, haven't seen any in the tallaght store, they're all over the place some bigger ones with the wooden frames. They come with a bag but no backing board.

Just in case anyone goes looking they just moved the tallaght woodies to beside the shamrock rovers proposed ground at the back of the new hotel. I might have a few 8x10 cardboard mounts in plastic wraps at home - will check to see if there are any left laters.

I can just picture a whole gang of us there on Saturday morning, putting the photos together in to mounts etc, never mind setting up our little spots.

    Last minute? No chance. LOL.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 266 ✭✭SemperFidelis

    lol, I'll bring the sellotape.

Darren ... I'll take those 5 ones extra you have if you still have em ... this means I only need 15 ...

I can see that my set up is just going to be so different to everyone else's set up....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,819 ✭✭✭rymus

To put the mounted images inside and protect them from the elements ?

ahhh 'bags'... right... I was calling them something else. Suddenly it appeared that everyone was hugely confident about making thousands of euros in sales and giving each person a shopping bag full of prints to carry away with them :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,063 ✭✭✭GristlyEnd

Simon, all I have left is 5 mounts with bags. No backing card left. The card should be easy enough to pick up.
