Yep 3mb service running at less than 200kilobits at the moment.
Its been slowing down over the past couple of nights.
Castletroy side of Limerick here as well.

No real packet loss of which to speak but BRUTAL speeds.
    100+ pings to boards.

    Hi folks,

I'm also in Limerick and have had the same problems. The speed was close to normal this morning but was way back down again tonight. I mailed customer service but haven't heard anything back.

    Anyone know what's going on?

    Conor

Adare/Patrickswell direction via 11Mbps WiFi. At edge of Limerick coverage.
    Looks OK

About 800k download and 500k up at Hosting365. So people busy downloading! I should try an ftp.heanet.ie download, a better more accurate guide. But i'm tired and going to bed. I've had around the 1Mbps on isp speed test before and near 3Mbps downloads on heanet.

Twice as fast download on speed test this morning, but I might be measuring their site asa BBC web page etc loads much faster than the speed test site.

Speeds are definitely back to normal, but cutting off every 10 mins or so (about 5 times, then can be fine for a couple of hours), needs a complete aerial/modem power cycle to bring it back.
    Wonder if its the weather.

  • Registered Users Posts: 32,417 ✭✭✭✭watty

If repowering your modem fixes it then there are at least two possibilities:
    1) How is your PC connected?
--> The modem only allows one connection, so connecting it direct to a LAN is a problem. It can only either connect direct to one PC/Laptop set to DHCP or to a WAN ethernet port on a NAT/Router with optionally WiFi. The modem has no firewall.

    2) Glitches on your mains electricity. Power strip power conditioners/ antisurge are a waste of money. A cheap UPS is only solution (you can then use phone during power cut too). In theory the Radio set outside and the Modem can run of a 12V Gel cell float charged. But doing this is only for experienced elctronics people and getting it wrong may result in getting charged for new gear.

Its a direct connection, its only been happening since the slowdown the other night, Send and receive lights stop flashing and stay on, then about 20 seconds later the modem restarts and ends up flashing on the first Internet light. It wont come back unless I bounce the aerial and the modem.

    Go here:
    http://192.168.100.1/BasicLan.htm

Drag mouse across the RX/ TX figures and press Ctrl-C

Paste here as a reply. (put "code" "/code" tags around it. with square brackets round each tag)
    RF Parameters
    Downstream
    Frequency Power	-4 dBmV
Signal to Noise Ratio	28 dB	Modulation	QAM64
    Upstream
    Frequency Power	44 dBmV

If Downstream Power too low or Signal to Noise Ratio too low it might due this caused by slight misalignment.

Or it could be Interference or a faulty Radio / Modem.

If it persists contact Digiweb support and paste them your modem figures above.

Hmm a few months ago I use to have a power of -2

Maybe a tree has grown or your aerial is misaligned. -6 suggests nearly 15km distance from base!

    Or damage to coax outdoor.

Less than 26 and worse than -6 (i.e. -8) the modem may occasionally lose lock. The limit when it is locked seems to be -17dBm

Depending on the Outside aerial box location you can try gentle, small movement and refresh page or call Digiweb.
