Is it possible to host an intranet on a PC other than our MS 2003 server?. I understand MS server 2003 comes with intranet setup as standard but our sever does does not have the capacity to host all the files we will need to upload.

    Thanks in advance.

I would think so, simply install IIS on your PC and host the website from that.

Give the PC a static ip

Depending on the OS you are running IIS from, and the size of the intranet you have in mind, you might find yourself running into issues with the number of concurrent connections.

Also depends on which applications make up your intranet and the security they need. Sharepoint, Exchange etc or open source wiki and cms?

As Aidan hinted at, Windows pro is limited to 10 simultaneous connections to IIS and SMB combined.

It's possible to install Apache or another web server onto windows pro and it does not appear to be affected by similar limits. So if it's possible to offload some of the files/subdomains to such a server, it should do the job.

You can host your website on your 2003 server and setup a virtual folder to point to a share on your PC. Not beautiful but it works. It means that if one of 2 systems goes down then so does your website though.
