    Hello,

Ive been trying to put together a simple mockup of a newspaper article in Illustrator, so I measure dout what I needed to from the newspaper and then inserted these measuremnts into illustrator only problem was it looked smaller than it should so i double checked it with a ruler and it was a few cm off what i had inputted

im presuming that this is just a silly mistake on my part but i have no idea, can anyone help?

If you're trying to do layouts etc you'd be better off with something like Quark or InDesign.

    hello, thanks for the replies

ho-hum, im going to use indesign but im just using illustrator to get something together as its just a simple mockup

heggie i measured the screen as i just assumed that with the rulers with mm and cm markings that it would be correct but obviously not, so when I print it out I should get correct sizes?

    cheers

yeh screen is dependant on resolution, and has nothing to do with final size. you must have a big monitor if a newspaper nearly measures up on screen ! The rulers around your document window (ctrl-r) should be correct, as in, if it says from top to bottom is 20 cm it is.

cheers for the help, theres been a few times that i have come onto digi art and design and always get great advice very quickly
