Nightwish? Lacuna Coil? Within Temptation? You pussies!

ahhh this is what I thought too.. seriously like, and Evanescence. my god. urgh!

Anyways, I'm a huge fan of women in music(not just metal/rock/whatever) but my vote has to go to My Ruin without a doubt.
Can't understand how you make a poll for women in metal and someone like evanescence(not even metal!!!!) would be there ahead of a band like My Ruin.

It's Runhild Gammelsæter from Thorr's Hammer with James Plotkin and Tim Wyskida from Khanate. Makes Thorr's Hammer sound like Teletubbies!

    Nightwish by far.

There the only band which the band members are individually outstandingly brilliant! Nightwish are the kind of band that make you think that maybe there's something special within the Finnish drinking water.

    Love 'em!

Out of the bands listed above, Id go for Arch Enemy. But overall id go for Otep, she is some****ing singer aswell as being fairly good at screaming.

As far as I am aware Tuomas Holopainen writes all the music and lyrics for Nightwish. I agree that they are a fantastic band but I don't think the other members have that much input into the songs.

Having said that, Marco Hietala has done some excellent work with Sinergy and Tarot. I have never checked out any of their other side projects.

What I think Oeneus meant was that each member is a talented musician. Tuomas does write all the music/lyrics however he leaves the drumming up to Jukka, and riffs etc to Emppu.

You hit the nail right on the head there. Each one of them is a legend in their own right. You'd have a hard time figuring out which one is your favourite. But I think I'd have to go with Jukka, because he's a party animal! :)

Talking of party animals, Marco would definitely get my vote as the member of Nightwish I'd most like to go on the lash with :) There was a very funny sequence on one of their older DVDs where a camera was positioned on top of his amp facing towards him. There was a bottle of something on the amp beside and the scene counted how many drinks he took before, during and after they played some song.

Plus he's got quite an original goatee which should earn him bonus points :)

Any links to any of the above with music?
I liked Evanescence but thought they were a bit too commercial (forgive me if I am wrong).. I'd love to get an/some albums though of similar but more industrial/rocky (with a female vocal)?
(off to bed now but will google list of names tomorrow) ThankQ!

Well there's Moth Complex from Dublin, who would kinda fit the more industrial description. They supported Lacuna Coil last year in the Olympia.

    Brilliant! I love them!! phraww!
Would the album be available in most of the bigger music stores in town?

Will look for lacuna Coil now!
    Tnx! ;)

Lacuna Coil arent really like Moth Complex. They are kinda like a better, harder version of Evanescence, but have changed lately to a more Korn-like sound with their latest album. On the subject of Moth Complex's album, I havent seen it in any stores, but you can buy it online from their site.

Lacuna coil are starting to sound like Korn?? Korns new stuff or old stuff? I imagine your talking about korns new stuff.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,129 ✭✭✭Nightwish

Well, Korn's guitar sound - the heavy chugging melodies are just very Korn like.

O I see. I just Im halfway throuhg the 3rd song on Moth complex's site And I must say I really like it , the quieter song is far better then the other two songs.

I'm having problems with their site - i've tried a number of times to buy the album, but it keeps saying "Your session has timed out, please log in again."
And this is after 5 seconds!
I'll try again later though. I really want the album.

    Thanks for the recommendation! ;)

Just downloaded the free tracks from their site and listening to them right now. They're pretty good! They remind me of a band called Skindive who are sadly disbanded.

They remind me of a band called "Sneaker Pimps", but more rocky/heavy.
    Very very cool.
Will definitely get the album! Well worth supporting!

Sneaker Pimps??? How do we get from Lacuna Coil to them? Now my interest is piqued, I must have a listen.

If I think it's shite I'll hold you all responsible :p

[edit] You were talking of Skindive I take it (as opposed to the Moth Complex). I got a CD of theirs at a gig in Galway years ago. I have a vague memory of putting it on and taking it out and throwing it at the nearest wall not long after...

Sneaker Pimps' first album was class, but I think they ditched the vocalist after that and went for a trip-hop sound. I haven't anything from that era.

Hey guys, my band has a female singer. You can check us out at http://windfallband.bebo.com and let us know what ya think. Cheers

They went for a male vocalist (well i have one album).. he's gorgeeeous, but the music was not very upbeat, nothing like the first album with the female vocalist - I love that album..
I'm not sure how albums they have released to be honest.

I was comparing Sneaker Pimps to Moth Complex - the vocals mostly.

Is that because it reached such dizzy heights of aural pleasure for you that you couldn't bear to ever listen to it again for fear of the magic being sullied by repeated playing? :D

    lol, something like that :D

Easpa Measa are by far (in my opinion) the best "Female fronted" band in Dublin at the moment.

Easpa Measa are savage alright, doubt they'd describe themselves as "female fronted" though :D
