Given how old this thread is, i'm outraged that After Forever weren't on that list.
    Floor Jansen > Amy Lee

    Arch Enemy without a doubt.

Human Waste Project, the Distillers and Flyleaf for me please!

Here's a few more that I'm pretty sure I linked to in other threads. They're well worth listening to anyway if you've not heard of them before.

    Magica

    Luna Mortis

    Save
This song is a cover of the Fear Factory song "Slave Labour". It sounds great I think!

    The Agonist

Kylesa are quite good as well, one of the vocalists is female. They also have two drummers and manage to pull it off pretty decently.

Arch Enemy gets my vote from that list but Doro does it for me the most!

    No Madder Mortem?

    For Shame.

Necropol Lit taken from the Deadlands album.

Kittie are a proper inspiration, but if you want something pretty with the grit and screaming taken out then Amy Lee is lovely..just discovered In This Moment, quite Lacuna Coil/Evanesance.The lead singer used to be a porn star which makes me feel quite impressed!

She did? Where did you come across that info? She was featured in Playboy (link contains gratuitous shot of cleavage) but that's all as far as I can see.

id have to say none of the above ,except nightwishes over the hills version this is great, and also arch enemy have some good stuff and have a diffrent edge then the rest.

but all these bands sound the same and vocals usually spoil the music
there is a heap more bands out there like this also they may aswel form one big band

    but thats just me

Nah, Aghora are seriously where it's at. The soprano vocals work really nice, and it's straight Florida prog, with some cracking line-ups over the years, Sean Malone and Sean Reinert for example.

Nightwish are my favourite, moreso since After Forever broke up.

I really like Nemesea at the moment, very underrated.

Do you seriously not hear a difference between those bands? Even just take the first 2 bands on the poll - Nightwish and Lacuna Coil. Do they honestly sound identical to you?

Here's another female-fronted band I came across lately. Karl Hungus might appreciate Rampant all the way from Osaka in Japan ;).

Hmm, not too bad. Giving a few of their songs a listen to, but the girl's vocals on New Born really aren't doing it for me. Better on other songs though.

Think there's one female fronted metal band from Japan I'd prefer:

    :D

I just meant from the point of view of the fact that the singer is quite easy on the eyes. :) Their music isn't bad but it's not earth-shatteringly brilliant either.

On an off-topic note, why is there a poo just below and to the right of your username?

Aye, she's not bad lookin' alright. ;)

Anyway, that's not a poo, it's a bakery fresh cinnamon roll straight from Gordon's oven.

    Oh, you might like these:

I remember seeing a female fronted Death Metal band supporting Nile once, can't think of their name though. Anyone know who I might be talking about?

Oh yeah? Then why is it called poop.gif rather than cinnamon_roll.gif or something? ;)

Good spot with Orphan Hate. I've heard that song Circus somewhere before but I can't place it. I've a feeling it was in a movie but I've no idea what one!

A quick Google search led me to an Egyptian inspired progressive metal band called Dendura. Could it have been them?

Nah, wasn't them. Did a bit more searching myself though. It was Sinister, who had a female singer at the time I saw them.

The singer for Madder Mortem is very too.

I think he accidentally a coca cola bottle.

Big shout for Serpent Cult, Belgian Doom metal. Their Weight of Light album is a beast of an album, the mid-range to high female vocalist counters the heaviness of the riffage. Check it out.

You mean Captain Gord's spiced bum? :D

Another good shout there. I prefer their 2007 album Trident Noir Fire though :).

Their MySpace page is here for anyone who wants a listen and is to lazy to search for them ;).

they do indeed, and most of them ,their songs start off with a great part and then when it changes to the verse and the singing comes in the intrest is gone ,and just bout all these bands do the same thing ,their trying to make big epic music but it just doesnt work ,

I'm also surprised that After Forever aren't on that list. Floor is the best female vocalist in metal, in my opinion. There's literally nothing she can't do, and their songs are awesome. Invisible Circles is a whopper album altogether. Great pity they're not a band anymore.

Floor is a great singer. Bit overpowering in the early days but she found her niche and is excellent. Some of the notes she hits are astounding!
