Mario - Slam of the day

Mario is actually a friend of Very Nice Pat. I don't know what sub training he's done outside of UCD, but he trains (or trained) wrestling with Pat, and has come to one or two Sub classes in UCD. (I think Pat has shown him a lot of sub moves too)

Hey Colm, theres either two Paul Murphy's or theres a mistake there. If Paul had won that category I would have remembered because he'd have let me know about it all the way home in the car. He didn't place I think it was the lad Douglas who won it.

Someone told me that Kevin got a really nice slam in the <75 and I presumed it was Kevmaguinness, I knew something was fishy about that.

Kev has never slammed in his life!

Barry - I'll look at the forms later.

Kevin - the only way you're going to get bigger is if you get tubbier. Don't go there dude.

    Dylan - it's your club!

John - We aim to have three tournaments a year in Dublin. The Nationals are to be held later in the year. We had the Dublin Open in September, and we couldn't figure out a name of the midwinter tournament until Clive, in a moment of absolute brilliance, said the "All Valley Submission Championships". It's beautiful.

Did you ever think about organising an Irish Grappling Association, Similar to NAGA in the US... I guess, the IGA? Then have official IGA events where people could be rated and so forth? I think the level of grappling and interest in tournaments is getting to the stage now where an official body over the events could be good for the future of the sport.

    Man, Anthony was strong.

I got really lazy at the end, mentally I sort of said, I can't beat this guy and just held on.

John had some great cornering advice.

I remember at the time thinking "how in the hell do I do that? Stupid Kav"

Looking at it though, he was right.

    Cheers for posting that.

This stuff looks pretty cool. Which division would i fit into? I've been a judo black belt for 1 year. No other sub experiance. When is the next competition?

Depends how good you are really at ne-waza. I'm 1st kyu in judo but was in intermediate but I was considering entering Advanced. But I've been training no-gi no and again for about a year.

    Where are you based btw?

I'm in the fethard judo club in tipp. Richard Gorey is my name. Fight u-81s or 90s. I'm a far better stand up fighter than on the ground. I thought training for something like this would bring my ne-waza on a lot. I've done a fair bit of no-gi training too but not with many different parthners. Do you kno when the next one is on or if there is a site? I'l probably enter intermediate 1st just to be on the safe side. I wouldn't want to embarrase myself! :L
