Read the booklet that came with it for the instructions on how to take your medication.

If you're starting the pill for the first time, (or obviously after a break of some time) you need to take the first pill on the first day of your period.

Your pharmacist will have no problem answering these questions. (Rather than heading off to your GP and having to pay out 50 quid!!!)

Your GP should have made that very clear when they prescribed it to you (unless you're just checking in advance?). But yeah, as blue_banana said, you have to take it on the first day of your period.

Yes it matters. Read the booklet. If it didn't matter then they wouldn't give such careful instructions on when and how to take it. If you've already read the booklet and still aren't sure, ask the doctor who gave it to you or your pharmacist. You should have been told how to take it.

And remember that whenever you start taking it you need to use extra precautions for the first week (ie condoms).
