    Hi All,

Finally got around to building my first rig and I just wanted to check what other users are getting with similar builds.

    E6600 - not o/c
Zalman CNPS9500LED - fan at lowest setting
Antec P180 - all fans at lowest setting

    Temps:
    Idle 28 - 30 oC
    Full Load 40 oC

So... are these the norm for the above or should they be lower?

    Q

Yep I'm sure I can sort that out.

Haven't got around to installing the above apps but I will.

the only reason I ask is that their are 4 CPU temps you should be watching, the socket, diode and core (i.e. cores 0 and 1) temps.

Usually the socket temp is lower than the other 3 and is sometimes miscalibrated, its best to ignore it and pay attention to the other sensors for your true cpu temperature.

Usually its best to watch which ever one is the highest under load. Oh and btw, if you haven't got any of these programs installed, how do you know what your load temp is?

MSI Dual Core Centre program came with my Mobo.

Also found a temp monitor for Both cores and the T-Junction

That is one of the best temp monitors out there. All the big overclockers use it. Meant to be very accurate.

Best for you to prime95 or dual orthos the cpu to find its true load temps. 2 hours should do it. Also very handy for finding out if you overclock and its stable.

Are you sure Intel EIST is enabled in your bios and windows?
It can be quite easy to forget to enable it in Windows.
Usually down by Power Options -> Minimal Power Management.

I discovered this when trying to find out why my idle and load temps were above the average.
Sure enough, once fixed both the CPU and core temps went down by about 8 - 9 degrees average (stock cooler).

Heres the offical Intel EIST doc for anyone interested:
