    Yes. Ideas on a napkin...

However, as former Transport Minister Seamus Brennan told us, it seems to be customary to put any estimates as to the cost of your ideas on the back on an envelope.

Hmm, that envelope is not nearly thick enough.

Vexorg, the following was robbed off the Commuting/Transport forum and adjusted. And that always led to the most genial, unheated discussions;) Perhaps it could be adopted for this new, very welcome, board.
This board deals with things like information on various forms of infrastructure, including transport, power, water/sewerage, telecoms, etc. It is hoped to include discussion on the emerging infrastructure of Ireland.

Infrastructure announcements (subject to boards.ie advertising / spam rules), general discussion (serious and not so serious) and relevant humour are all welcome.

We should be aware that some posters will be over zealous about their preferred means or reason of/for putting infrastructure in place, but that this should be balanced. If you make a particular statement for or against a particular means or reason of/for putting relevant infrastructure in place, you should be willing to back it up.

While Dublin is home to many Boardsters, this board should not be an exclusively Dublin orientated board.

Things that shouldn’t be included are:
    * Abusive rants. You can rant, but please keep it civil.
    * General discussion on wider society at the periphery of infrastructural issues that are more suited elsewhere on boards.ie, for example more suited to the Politics, Humanities, College, etc. boards). Such discussions may be moved to those boards.
    * Some items suited to regional boards may be included here if relevant but, depending on context, they might be better included on the relevant regional board. For example, general commentary on infrastructure in the U.K. can be included here, but problems which are specific to the U.K., and for which no comparison exists in Ireland, should be included on the Abroad board.
*Commercial advertising is not permitted without permission. The overt promotion of commercial activity and the use of the board as a vehicle for such are forbidden in accordance with the general rules of boards.ie. [However, feedback is welcomed on sites referred to and linked from here that are outside boards.ie and are not necessarily recommended or endorsed (but generally provide good information)].
*spam, abuse, trolling, baiting, flaming or general muppetry. The making of potentially defamatory, off topic, disruptive statements such as incitement of hatred, bigotry, racism, sexism or violence is subject to alteration or deletion.

In terms of legal or similar issues, they should be related to infrastructure issues.

Note: it is the responsibility of a recipient to verify any information received and the recipient is liable for his or her own actions, whether acting or refraining from acting based on any information. The promotion of any illegal, including fraudulent or dishonest, activity will not be tolerated. It is the responsibility of any advertisers to ensure that their advertisements are honest and legal.

Overall, please keep things civil and amicable. Before posting please search recent posts to make sure, there is no duplicity of discussion for the sake of us all.

Where's the line between the stuff that should be in a regional forum and the stuff that should be left here? If a thread is purely about a specific bypass (be it in Dublin, Cork, Galway or whatever) couldn't you argue that it should be in the regional forum?

Or conversely do you just allow any kind of infrastructure to go on in here and not move things for being overly regional and leave the regional forums for discussing pretty much anything else regional?

Thats for the OP to decide I suppose.
