Problem with standalone DVD burner

    Hi,

I don't have a dvd burner on the laptop (Dell Inspiron 1300) and I've bought a BTC usb-linked 16x dvd writer for it. However, the thing won't burn. It's supposed to work with both DVD+ and DVD- discs, both R and RW. But it won't.

Instead, I get a message up saying the destination device does not have enough space on it. Which can't be right.

I remember before buying 800MB capacity CDs for the PC, but the computer wouldn't recognise them, insisting that 700MB was the max capacity.

Could this have something to do with it? I wouldnt have thought so given that it's an external device. I've already emailed tech support, but it's a China-based firm, so God knows when I'll get an answer.
