    Don't worry;)
Got the same truck from the same place(towerhobbies). Not a problem at all.
€578/100x25=144.50+578=€722.50. Thats how much you will pay but thats nothing for 2 brilliant trucks;)

Just in case you didn't realize what he was adding up, its roughly 25% added on for import duty and VAT!

Yeah anything you get worth over €100 you'll get caught, 25% tax:(

It works on a random basis and has nothing to do with the value of the item. Also, like pointed out before, it's 21% VAT and about 3% customs & excise. An post will also slap on another €5 or €10 depending on the value.;)

For 18 euros more you would have two x Carson Specters from Green Hobby & Model, Dublin in the January sale.
Local supplier = 2000 miles nearer to where u live = nothing gets lost in the post
    No VAT
    No Duty
No delay while customs value/hold it/assess charges.
    No extras.
Somewhere you can actually physically bring it to when it doesn't start because your settings are off / you have tuned it wrongly, broke a part in a crash, etc.
Plus (in those maintenance cases) you can ask face to face what went wrong and be shown how to avoid it happening again.
1/8th size Specter = bigger, stronger, more power ..... than 1/10th models

But if price was the more important they have Twistracers for less €€€ than Specter , Twistracer = 1/10th size .... same chassis as Stormracer which is popular ... only higher ground clearance. I assume there are Twistracers left in the sale but I am aware all the discounted Stormracers are sold out since 2 weeks ago.

Only thing .... three days left in the sale ... it ends end of Jan. :-)

do the customs notify you if they hold the item and want duty?
i bought items before worth wellover €200 and didnt get caught guess theres always a first time.

Yes you get a notification of duty and VAT due.

It is relatively new. They always knew they were missing out on VAT due on ebay sales, so they geared up to examine a greatly increased number of incoming parcels. It intercepts drugs, arms and generates VAT tax and Customs Duty on more ordinary legal items imported via ebay and the likes.
I assume that they target certain sellers for special attention, but last year personal stuff labelled "gift" began to be stopped as well.
I understand that last year they collected 20 million plus in income from posrtal and courier based "personal" importers.

If you have to collect it at the post office you will pay the vat there(thats only if theres vat on it in the first place).

  • Registered Users Posts: 837 ✭✭✭stephenmarr

so it would be held at my local postoffice so.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,248 ✭✭✭Plug

Only if your not at the house when the postman comes, he will leeve a slip in the letter box and you go collect it from the post office, it will show how much vat you will need to pay on it.
