Mary Imacculate College: to go or not to go?

    Hi, I'm a leaving cert student and I'm seriously considering doing primary teaching next year at Mary I. I 'm hearing lots of conflicting rumours about it though. Some people say its a real hole with no facilities or social life while others say its a great college with loads of nice people and things to do. Any feedback on these comments will be most appreciated.

    If you wern't going to Mary I, I presume you'd head to Dublin to Pats or something to do ur B.Ed there?

    Ya, Mary I is a bit old fashioned..just 2main building and 5 prehabs..so we'v no 'campus' as such..we'v a canteen and one shop so its no UCC/UL or anything..but what do ya expect. Come to the open day and see for urself.

    We got a brand new modern Gym,just finished being built there at christmas. Hvnt checked it out yet as i was on TP and we're on our 2wks off now. Looks lovely though. It was badly needed..we always had to go over to UL and use their gym..we'll will still have to go over there if u wana go swimming or use the running track.

    As for the social life..why wudn't we have a social life?!! We're in the heart of Limerick, surrounded by LIT AND UL..tis great..students everywhere..great craic every night of the week!!

    As Mary I is a small place its makes it a very frndly place,easy to make frnds and such..

    You get used to the place..you don't know any better like as uv never experienced another college ya know?! Sur all you have to do it turn up to ur lectures and a laugh with ur frnds and then socialise by night!!
    Besides..ask any of the lads that go to MaryI would they chance their decision on going to that college(not the course!) in the first place..id be surprised if they'd say yes:)

    Rememeber not to choose a college on whats there etc..ul have a great time/make great frnds where ever you go..choose it of the course content and what suits you.
