setting up wireless router with ntl

I am connecting to the web at the moment but it is horrible slow, so Im assuming it has something to do with the router. MY router is a d-link dgl 4300 . for the wan setting and ntl do I put it in static ,dhcp,PPPoE,PPTP, or L2TP it is currently set to DHCP any suggestions much appreciated.
