engine trouble

    just wondering if any of you could shed some light on a problem im having with my engine. when driving along without warning i lose all power in the engine and the dials all drop. at most this lasts for a split second (or two!) and mite only happen once in a week. timing belt maybe (although i had it done 30k miles ago)? anyone got any clues?

    What are you driving? Sounds like an induction coil pack problem that i had. A 99 fiesta and a 03 mondeo.

    im driving a 00 seat ibiza. gatecrash - was it expensive to fix? ill be bringing it in to the garage at the weekend, just looking for a bit of heads up on what to expect.

    It wasn't that bad, @€;200 from what i remember. Not that you like spending money, but engines can be pricey and €200 is a lot nicer than €600 :D

    The problem could be anything from crank or cam sensor to ECU, etc.. You need to get it diagnosed properly - an online discussion won't sort it properly!
