I guess all I'm looking for here is any opinions that you think would make someone more likely to buy a shower door from this site:
    http://www.ShowerDoorsDirect.ie

Just to clarify, this site does do a good trade as is, but I've set up Google Analytics with Goals, and seen that only about 2% of the visitors purchase a door. I realise that buying a shower doors isn't like picking up an iPod, or a computer game, in that it's usually part of some greater home renovation. But I'd like to make any simple changes that would improve it.

Please, no standardistas, a missing alt tag isn't a deal breaker when performing bathroom renovations.
And in case its not obvious, I am not a professional website designer :)

Just having a quick look ...

your "Current Special Offers (until 31st Jan)" seems a bit boring ... it could with a nice graphic for it .. "special offers" or similar ...

Maybe have all your shower doors without the text ... as it is .. its a lot to scroll down through .. might be nice to see them all together ...

To be honest though ... are shower doors the type of thing you buy online ...
I might look at them online .. but I'd buy them in person where I can go back to the shop ... if I've any problems ...

I would imagine putting a Pay by Cheque/Postal Order button next to the Proceed to Payment button would help, as it wouldn't necessarily be assumed that such an option would be availible, I imagine the average net user would assume a Proceed to Payment button would imply online transactions only, so highlighting the fact that cheque or postal order payment options exist as early as possible would be beneficial.

    If that makes sense?

I agree with this post, a nice image for the special offers might highlight them better, perhaps a seperate page would be best though, it's hard to know.

And also the products page point I agree with, there is no additional information on show in the view product page, it's merely a reitteration of that on the products list page, so perhaps two columns of images, thereby decreasing the scrolling. Although again, it's only a small issue, and hard to know how to work it.

To be honest, there is little I can see that would hinder any possible sale apart from my previous post. I know you say you're not a web designer, and yes it's apparent, not the flashiest site, but I would give it a good score for the fact that its very simple, easy to browse, does exactly what it says on the tin. Fair play!

Any your validation ain't bad either. All the pages validate fine really, the img tags issue is just a matter of putting a forward slash at the end of the tag, e.g. <img src=images/image1.png alt="shower" />, similarly for your <br> tags if I'm not mistaken.

Good stuff lads, thanks a million for your inputs thus far.

    here are quick replies...
your "Current Special Offers (until 31st Jan)" seems a bit boring ... it could with a nice graphic for it .. "special offers" or similar ...
Good idea. I'll do my best to throw one together in the Gimp. I am sure Special Offers will continue or appear again.
Maybe have all your shower doors without the text ... as it is .. its a lot to scroll down through .. might be nice to see them all together ...
I'll reconsider the products layout, it's an awkward one cause there are more doors to come, and the most important thing for a door bar price is what size it comes in (app). Hopefully I can improve.
are shower doors the type of thing you buy online
I wouldn't have thought so, but from what I can tell, yes.
I would imagine putting a Pay by Cheque/Postal Order button next to the Proceed to Payment button
    Thats a good idea.

True, though there was originally supposed to be descriptive information. i.e. This door is perfect for a small downstairs bathroom. This doors opens outward. etc. I'll either get the extra information, or do away with the individual pages.

Any your validation ain't bad either.
    - I'll fix the dodgy tags when I see them.

    Thanks again lads.
