Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

An All-time Club World Ranking can only be meaningful and useful if
it can be determined by taking account all the results of the
national championships, the national cup competitions, the club
competitions of the six continental confederations and the FIFA. It
is therefore only possible to determine an All-time Club World
Ranking from January 1st, 1991 – when the Club World Ranking began
taking all these details into consideration.

The period from 1872 to 1990 can only be asssessed subjectively,
mostly by using national and international champions as a guide. It
follows that teams placed in the individual competitions cannot be
taken into consideration, even if their titles were won easily or in
spite of many defeats. It is simply not possible to establish a basis
for giving all participating clubs an equal opportunity for the
    period 1872 to 1990.

The IFFHS has therefore has decided, logically, that the All-time
Club World Ranking should be determined from January 1st, 1991 using
the annual Club World Ranking (the situation at 31st December
annually). For this it will take into consideration the „Top 25
Clubs", annually and award them points from 25 points for the top
club down to 1 point for the club in 25th place. Adding the points
from the individual years for each club will provide the All-time
    Club World Ranking.

    Club Nationality Points

    1. FC Barcelona España 270
    2. Juventus FC Torino Italia 235
    3. Milan AC Italia 224
    4. Manchester United FC England 218
    Real Madrid CF España 218
    6. FC Bayern München Deutschland 197
    7. FC Internazionale Milano Italia 186
    8. Arsenal FC London England 180
    9. CA River Plate Buenos Aires Argentina 155
    10. AFC Ajax Amsterdam Nederland 126
    11. Parma AC Italia 123
    12. FC do Porto Portugal 122
    13. CA Boca Juniors Buenos Aires Argentina 117
    14. São Paulo FC Brasil 115
    15. Chelsea FC London England 111
    16. Liverpool FC England 107
    17. Valencia CF España 99
    18. SS Lazio Roma Italia 98
    19. Paris Saint-Germain FC France 96
    20. Club Atlético de Madrid España 83

Why do you think Chelsea should not be ahead of Liverpool? Just because it doesn't suit you doesn't make it wrong. I have no reason other than to report the article for posting it here - I thought it would provoke debate.

Also, for the benefit of Ardent, the list is post 1991, which is why it uses information post 1991. "when the Club World Ranking began taking all these details into consideration."

    ;););)

"all-time", "post 1991" . The two are hardly compatible.

It's like saying that Chelsea have won the premiership more times than Utd, because we're only going to count records starting from the last 2 seasons. All time has tro be all or nothing.

I didn't realise Arveladze scored so many goals:

And Nakamura the 2nd most popular player of 2006. :)

Why call it all-time if its not.

As a reflection of the clubs since 1991, it seems pretty accurate.

It's not very clear what it is.

"The World's Top Goal Scorer 2006"

Crouch scored 11 international goals, the other 5 must be goals in Europe or something.

Ah it's just as much a waste of time as the FIFA rankings, no need to take it too seriously. :) The top 5 in the seedings for the WC2010 qualifiers are:
    1. Germany
    2. Holland
    3. Sweden
    4. Croatia
    5. Czech Republic

We actually played 4 of those teams in the last 12 months. :D
