Nice specs, more than enough for what you want it to do. Though it pisses me off the way Dell list the free software they install as if it makes it more of a bargain.

    Cost me €741 + €30 delivery charge

Want to get rid of half the crap/free software on it not sure if it comes with AV or Firewall have nod and Zone Alarm so will put this on. Also Ad Aware

Whats the usual crap they put on ?

Also would I need a Lan adapter key in order to go wireless or are these usually built in ?

Not too sure if it such a good deal, just looking at the dell website, for 866euro you can get a similar spec machine, although with only 1mb l2 cache, but you get vista home premium, 1084euro for the core 2 duo 1.6 2mb.

but then maybe you get the vista upgrade cheap enough from dell

Use the Dell decrapifier to get rid of the preinstalled stuff.

Did not want Vista as some of the programs I have do not 'agree' with it

Not a massive saving in comparison to a new one but hey still a saving and it does the job

Will have a look at the dell decrapifier later thanks

have a similar spec 6400 myself(t2300 & x1300), battery life not brilliant and bit bulky, but otherwise I'm happy with it. If it's what your looking for then it's probably a good buy, the outlet machines seem to be as good as the new machines

    Thanks

    Decrapifier! LOL :D

Dell seem to be slipping a bit on quality of late (anecdotal evidence)... I'm pretty happy with my 2nd hand D610 though.

Don't want it as a fashion accessory..

As long as it does the job don't give a monkeys what it looks like

Wont be carrying far either so wont be worried about the weight of it

I'd suggest downloading all the latest drivers and burning them onto a dvd when you get it. Then reformat the thing and go from scratch. Dell do a pretty good job of making their decent hardware run like **** with their awful software.
