Independent Car Specialist/Engineer/Surveyor Needed - URGENT

    Hey Guys,

    Looks like i'll finally be putting the never ending punto saga behind me one ade for all. The garage has informed we the cars warrenty will not be upheald dispite the cars endless history of faults. The engine has been damaged beyond repair due to excessive overheating and needs replacement.

    It is because the garage is trying to blame this on me rather than their own neglect that i've decided legal action is my only way out.

    However, I need an independent engineer to give the cars engine a full overall inspection to discover the cause of the gasket failure or overheating.
    I have contacted the AA and they charge 250 euro for the service but they will not take the engine apart in order the see the gasket. They require the engine to already be stripped, thats is not possible for me.

    Ideally i need engineer who will do all the dirty work himself and write up a full report. Does anybody know an agency, garage or dealership that can do this for me..... cost isnt a problem.

    Let us know guys, its kinda urgent.

    Also if anyone know of a solicitor who can Specialise in car issues it would be cool too.

    Where are you based cheif??

    Any garage should be able to do this for you no problems at all!! If you were a member of the AA would they not do it for free for you??

    Over north Dublin Direct Malahide Road. I'd need the engineer to go to the dealer as the car cannot be moved the dammage is so bad.

    Try Frank Glover - he will inspect the engine once the dealer has dismantled it. He's not cheap, but he is good.

    I hate to say it, but i dont feel sorry for you. You were warned by everyone on this forum to get rid of that car after the garage sold it to you with 5 gears instead of the supposed 6. And after the amount of hassle you had with them over it you still decided to keep it rather than demand a full refund. Harsh as it sounds, you've no-one to blame but yourself.

    Not much use on the engineer front, but if its an 8 valve punto engine, appartently this is quite normal:mad: Same thing happened to me and the dealer stated that it is due to airlocks in the coolant. I ended up having the get the engine skimmed at my own expense.:(
