    Hello,

I want to know if there are any shops in Dublin where i can buy decent pc hardware. I know shops like pc world, but they sell total crap, out dated video cards and 1 memory brand (probably theirs  )

    I'm searching for a x1950 pro 256MB pci-e card and a few Corsair DDR-DIMM PC3200 1GB memory sticks.

I tried to purchase some stuff from dabs.ie but there was some stupid error regarding my AIB maestro debit card. heres the letter
    Dear dude

Thank you for your order no 1. We have submitted for authorisation the sum of 280.95 Euro from your UNKNOWN: IRELAND number ***************0000 but regrettably our merchant service bank tells us that your card issuer has declined to take the transaction. We do not take this as a reflection on your financial status, and can happen for a number of reasons, such as:

    - Wrong expiry date given
    - Insufficient funds or credit available
    - Card billing address you gave us doesnt match the card records
    - Transaction is above the cards limit
    - Bank computer systems not working properly
    - Foreign card requiring customer contact for mail order
    - New card not yet authorised for use
    - Incorrect CVC Digits entered
    - Other clerical error
    - American Express or Electron

The cards which we do accept are listed at:
    http://www.dabs.ie/help/paymentmethodsaccepted

Unfortunately, one of the side-effects of card issuer confidentiality is that they will not tell us why the card has been declined. If you are surprised by this, it would probably be useful if you spoke to your card issuer before recontacting us with either a different card number, or to ask us to try again.

SO i got pissed off... Its probably because of that CVV2 thing. My card doesn't have one on the back so i left it blank. I don't know what to do with those folks on dabs.ie. Maybe someone who has maestro card from AIB could suggest me what to do, because i don't think that you can find stuff cheaper than on dabs or a regular shop considering the fact that x1950pro goes way over 220euro on http://www.komplett.ie/

    People please help me,
    Thank you

great shop on Parliment St.: IT DIRECT

they have good stocks, Komplett prices and good friendly staff

The x1950pro should only be €189 on komplett....... http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=326957

You could try www.pc-look.com , they do not need a CVV number as far as i can remember and they are pretty good.

My experience with that shop is the exact opposite.

This shop is extremelly expensive, staff really unpleasant, and their stock, 3 shelves while the rest of the shop is empty

Once I needed a fan for my P4, I came over, asked for it and those guys, even the big boss told me I have to buy the CPU with it...
I called them back later that day to tel them that is crazy and that this is a forced sale and they told that is the way it is and just hang up...

And they are far far from Komplett prices lol
Whenever you want you get us a list of their prices and we can compare.

Plus the shop is always closed you have to ring and wait for the guy doing whatever he has to do downstairs to come over and open the door to ask you : "Yeah what do u want?"

"Er I am sorry I am just a poor customer who would like to visit and buy some stuff if u dont mind..."

My 2 cents to this shop

I assume that is a sarcastic remark

There was a guy on here a while back who purchased a machine off them> when he found that it didn't function properly he was quite literally to to **** off by the staff when he tried to get it sorted.

Yea Ive noticed that IT DIRECT is not what im looking for. I called em and asked if they have x1950 and that dude on the phone was not very friendly. Anyway ive all ready ordered some stuff from elara.ie, not far away from me and i can collect everything by myself, prices are good, nice people.

There's your problem. It doesn't have the CVV2 code because its a debit card, not a credit card. When you go to input your payment details does it list Maestro at all?

Either that or there's not enough funds in your account!!
