Five reasons why I dislike dogs

    1) Watch what happens when two people walking their dogs pass each other. Instant aggression on the part of both animals with each yearning to attack and kill the other.

    2) Unreasonable intimidation: Any time I go out to my parents' back garden the next door neighbour's dog starts barking. He then rushes to the wooden fence dividing our gardens and starts snarling and growling. This is totally unprovoked.

    3) Look what dogs do to sheep. Again, more unprovoked attacks and violence. Absolutely horrifying.

    4) Dog sh*t is the vilest of all animal excrement.

    5) Dogs constantly jumping up and down on people - despite repeated warnings from their owners. Again, a form of subtle bullying.

You get none of this behaviour with cats. Far superior animals.

And the point of this thread is???
Brian Capture you`re treading on thin ice with this one especially if its an attempt to stir the sh!t.

It looks more like the kind of thread you would see on after hours tbh.
Generally the people who post on this forum try to keep things in a positive light.

Ok the title of the thread should really be why you hate dog owners none of the things you mentioned are the dogs fault only the fault irresponsible owners.

I think your wrong about dogs.

    1. My Dogs (dobermans) will be intrigued by other dogs while being taken for walks and try to get to them but to be friendly - not to attack. However as they get more used to walks they sometimes simply ignore other dogs completely.

    2. Our dogs bark at our neighbour too when he comes close to our wall. All dogs will protect their own territory and this is natural - plus the neighbour is a baistard so I am sure the dobermans detect this as they are intelligent dogs.

    3. I know dobermans love mutton as their mouths water at the sight of sheep - I however always have my dogs under proper control and they can't break out so they can't kill sheep. Dogs natural prey in the wild is sheep - can't prevent nature taking its course. Once they don't escape there will be no problem.

    4. I don't think so - cats excriment leave a putrid smell that lasts for months.

    5. My dogs jump up on me because they like me - its their way of greeting people.

Cats are cold cynical creatures in my opinion - too independent for my liking and I have virtually no interaction with our two - except when they all start acting nice until they are fed and they then feck off.

A lot of cats appear to be cynical yes, but mine even comes for walks with me. I do find it annoying that he sees me primarily as a source of food, and always eats like he hasn't been fed in days. I knew he would be like that when I got him tho, so it's no biggie. I like the way cats can be independent.

The point should be evident from the thread title.

I dislike dogs. I have issues with dogs.
I have given five examples of why I think they suck.

    I don't accept that for a minute.

Dogs should share responsibility for their actions.

Sounds like a troll to me--Im watching this thread carefully.

And judging by some of your previous threads in other fora you have issues with a lot of things.
Almost every thread you`ve started is ranting about something.I personally dont want that sh!t here so and I`d say most of the regulars dont either.

I was expecting a joke thread. You now the ones, ends up being a letter from a cat or something. But you're serious

Have you always disliked dogs? Bad experiences?

    1) Watch what happens when two people walking their dogs pass each other. Instant aggression on the part of both animals with each yearning to attack and kill the other.
That isn't true. Does't happen with all dogs.
Cats don't fight at all, peace loving creatures.

    2) Unreasonable intimidation: Any time I go out to my parents' back garden the next door neighbour's dog starts barking. He then rushes to the wooden fence dividing our gardens and starts snarling and growling. This is totally unprovoked.
He is guarding his space. Doubt if a burgaler would try that house.

    3) Look what dogs do to sheep. Again, more unprovoked attacks and violence. Absolutely horrifying.
Sheep are tasty. We all give in to temptation at times. Cats and birds?

    4) Dog sh*t is the vilest of all animal excrement.
    Mmmmmm... Hair balls.

    5) Dogs constantly jumping up and down on people - despite repeated warnings from their owners. Again, a form of subtle bullying.
    Then the dogs isn't trained.

Yeah, I'm sure that's why they use cats for search & rescue, leading the blind, sheep herding, law enforcement, drug detection, bomb disposal, the Vietnam War?
Dogs are amazing creatures... but just like humans they can grow up to be little shíts in the wrong hands.
    1. My Dogs (dobermans) will be intrigued by other dogs while being taken for walks and try to get to them but to be friendly - not to attack.
That's how I'd put it too... 'interest' doesn't mean aggression... but I could see how someone could mis-read the behaviour if they already have "issues" with dogs.

You get from a cat what you give to a cat, i get much more interaction from my cats than from my dogs and that's saying something as my dogs are very in your face. When i get home from work there are always at least 4 or 5 of the cats lined up inside the front door as a welcoming commitee:D They'll then generally stalk me all around the house and garden for the evening, and it's not for food as they're free fed.

Sounds like they're conspiring against you... watching you to learn your usual patterns before they all pounce and scratch your eyes out.
Dragging the clothes off your corpse for their own use, they stand on each others shoulders and walk around impersonating you... living your life.
This is what cats want, don't let them fool you.

tbh, I'd be more interested in polling the dog community to find out 5 reasons why they think Brian Capture sucks and are obviously conspiring against him.

You do realise that some dogs, much like humans, have an inferiority complex and compensate by barking at anything bigger than them? Sort of a "listen to my bark, therefore I *must* be something not to mess with".

Let me give you a little ... revelation.

    Barking != violence.

Condoning dogs attacking sheep is a very disturbing development.

Nobody's condoning dogs attacking sheep. They're simply commenting on what is instinctive. You can't remove 'n' hundred/thousands of years of evolution by clicking your finger.

    Another reason to hate dogs
    - Rabies.

Another reason to hate humans ... paranoid "ZOMFG WONT SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE IMAGINARY CHILDEN" idiocy.

Lets see ..... anyone have a full list of STIs to hand? Or any sort of communicable infection?

    Nuclear weapons?
    Biological weapons?
    Chemical weapons?
    Global warming?
    Theft?
    Murder?
    Rape?
    Child abuse?
    Drink-driving?
    Racial abuse?
    War?
    Politicians?
    Greed?

    etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.

Mr Capture what a stupid statement, how can you see where you're going with your pants on. Dogs are friendlier than cats, dogs genuinely care about their owner and will protect them.

Have you ever seen cats mating, well it's savage. Cat **** is utterly vile and stinks, as does their piss, they puke up fur balls, disgusting. They ignore their owners wishes. Cats kill baby birds after their dinner, for fun. Generally cats have a nastier streak than dogs. I have both, this is what I see.

No Rabies in Ireland, Dumbo :D and on the Continent the main transmitter of Rabies is the fox and in the US it is the BAT.

As to the rest of your postings: maybe a good pychologist could help your phobia ;).

Cats: ooh, I love the slinky critters as much as I like my bomb sniffing squad :D

Don't forget the racoon in the US.

I don't even live in Ireland. Rabies is banned. NZ all the way, loads of sheep and the dogs are happy.

You don't like him, he doesn't like you. The perfect hate hate relationship.
I didn't condone dogs attacking sheep. Sheep are tasty and temptation is there. Very few dogs attack sheep, even less are in areas where they have easy access to them. In the end it comes down to the owners, it is their responsibility to ensure the dogs doesn't do it.

interesting topic.............as an owner of both cats and dogs I have to say and I am sure it is true of all animals that they have good and bad points.

But I do think it's terrible to just make a broad sweeping statement. I have 2 dogs and there isn't an aggresive bone in their body, yes they do jump up on people when they come into our house, but to be honest that isn't necessarily their fault, its mine (and OH) fault as we didn't train them well enough and thats a failing on our part not the dogs.

As for the first reason, I invite you to come up to the park with my mutts and a few other's mutts (some are on this board) and they main not see each other alot but man all they want to do is play and investigate their surroundings. With some dogs (not all) this is down to not being socialised as a puppy or it could stem from being abused at the hands of humans.

As for cats well we have 4 indoor cats, all very different and as for your comments about them not fighting thats not true, we have a grumpy tortie and she hates other females and has picked fights with our other female and we have had to separate them, so cats do fight.

    I have issues with dogs.

You have issues as you say. Deal with them. Get professional help or try and socialise yourself with friendly dogs so you can get used to them. Whatever way you look at it you are the one with a problem. Your either have a lack of knowledge and education on the subject or you are just out for a row.

The relationship between the dog and man goes back to ancient times. Its a strong bond symbiotic and healthy. Your dislike is unfortunate... for you.

    (no rabies in Ireland)

How can anyone prefer a cat over a dog(even one of those mini celebrity dogs)

Dogs are sociable animals and will be loyal for life and will protect you, they will lie on you and lick your feet and slobber on you and be goofy and clumsy.

I have a german shepherd, a big one at that, my neighbour who was in her 80's when she died and had had a stroke lived next door with her daughter in her 60's, my dog got in to their garden when he was still a boisterous puppy about a year old still big and would be more than able to knock down a woman of that age, up until that point my neighbour had been terrified of him, when she knocked at the front door to say he was in their garden i went into get him, he was sitting in front of the mother sniffing her hands and being gentle. She was never afraid of him after that.

A couple of years later when my dog was fully grown my neighbour, her mother had passed away, had someone try to break into her house she called us, opened the gate that she had put between out back gardens dog went in, now dog haters please read this, my dog did not attack he did not bite he stood approx 2 foot away from the intruder and had him pinned to the wall with fear... police came took him away.

My dog is a big mean looking animal, yet he is a big fluffy teddy bear to me and my family even my gf has grown to like him although being terrified at first. Get a puppy and you'll never want a cat again..... oh by the way love my dog!!

Just to add in when walking my dog i use a "halti" im sure owners of big dogs will know what these are, when training a young dog these are much more effective than chains and makes dogs easier to guide,

My dog doesnt really jump up on people apart from me, he usually sticks his head between their legs to get his halti off!!

Sorry to rant but i'm really passionate about my dog, what irish-lass is saying here is correct, dogs jump and misbehave if they have not been trained properly, make no mistake training your dog to do anything apart from sit, is a hard task, but if they jump its not the dogs fault, if you ever see wolves in the wild thats essentially how dogs would be behaving

I was always a cat person always have been, never had any interst in dogs whatsoever, use to foster dogs but was always glad when they left.........then we got 3 pups one night (January, 05) 2 went to my brother there was one black thing left I kindof felt sorry for it, so OH jumped at the chance of having a dog as he loves them. Our little bundle got parvo fought that and then got septicemia and fougth that.....to me any dog that can come through parvo shows guts and deserves a chance. She managed to worm her way into my heart with her sheer guts and determination to live, so we got her a friend in the form of another dog Sheba (October, 05). I can see the advantages of having both cats and dogs and our dogs LOVE playing with the cats.

While yes I will admit I love my cats dearly I also love my dogs and feel that now I am a cat and dog person. We have 4 house cats so we get to interact with them alot more so get alot out of them as well and their personalities come out.

Cause Jess was so sick she never got to socialising class till she was about 5.5 months old, we were lucky with her in that she loves everyone and all she wants to do is play but we have had foster puppies that have never been socialised and because they are not sure how to react in situations they bare teeth, growl or bite but normally after a few weeks in any foster home they start to learn.

There is alot of joy in owning any pet

When I was a nipper I fell out of a tree and landed squarely on my head. My dog at the time, (Smokey, RIP old fella) went running into the house (he wasnt allowed in and he always respected that, but an emergency is an emergency:) ) and went absolutely beserk until my parents followed him out and found me. No damage done, but talk about a loyal companion. This dog was a cross between a German Shepard and a Wire hair terrier. To us, and people he knew, he was like a teddy bear, but he protected us til the end, and was the most loyal animal I have ever seen. On one particularly memorable occasion, he stopped my mum from getting something out of the garden shed, and she couldnt figure why. Turns out there was a massive rat in there and he wouldnt let her go near it.

Now I own a red setter and a springer spaniel and both of them are again the most peaceful creatures, and loyal to the extreme. Apart from the red setter wiping his snot on my leg when I'm not looking, I've not a bad word to say and never would.

Although dog farts are admittedly rotten, but sure its give and take.

Are you terrified of trees now? Reckon they some species should be banned or muzzled....

    I found this thread comical actually:D :D

Dog people fighting to defend their dog and cat people fighting to defend their cat.......

This thread proves that there are Cat People and there are Dog People very rarely you get both cat and dog people, they always lean slightly more towards cats or dogs.......

Me I love both slightly more towards cats, i have to say....oh yes and dog and cat **** stinks!!!!!
