Normal for a newish piercing?

I got 2 surface piercings done at the nape of my neck on Thurs and I've noticed that it's still bleeding ever so slightly when I'm cleaning it. I mean I'm just getting a few drops on the tissue/cotton bud. Is this normal for a new piercing or should I be concerned? I know I should be getting some liquid from the piercing as it drains when it's being cleaned but should there still be blood?

There will be for a while alright, but it does dry up.

Just keep up the cleaning and it should be alright. Although, do bear in mind that all surface piercings have a tendency to reject (Even nape piercings), so make sure to keep an eye on their healing process.

Actually I think part of the problem may be that because it's less painful that the last time I had it done and the PTFE bends a bit I can roll around in my sleep and lie on my back which I couldn't do for a few weeks when I had a metal surface bar in. So I'm probably being a tiny bit rougher with it than I should. It seems happy out from what I can make out from the pics and with the aid of a few mirrors though. I'll post pics during the week, I think :) Soooo pretty.

    PTFE?!

WHAT?! WHY? WHO did that to you?!

I got it done in Living Art in Cork. It's PTFE but shaped like a surface bar and seems to be holding ok (bearing in mind it's all of a week and a half old). Why, what horrors are associated with PTFE?

some people are over reacting, i havent heard any horrors due to PTFE

I would have assumed that since a surface bar is the best shape for reducing stress on the exit points and PTFE bends a certain amount with the movement of the joint, it would have combined the best of both worlds. The guy who did it has a very good reputation and has been performing surface piercings for a number of years so I trust that he knows what works.

Yeah, if its shaped like a surface bar I don't see what the problem would be....

On the bleeding, when I got my forearm pierced it bled a bit for a few days, but stopped soon enough.

    Happy healing:)

Call into Tattoo Zoo and see if their new piercer is doing them and talk to her about it, if not there's nobody else in Cork I'd reccommend going to for something like that. I'd say take a trip up to Dublin and get it done in one the shops there, or maybe ring Metal Urges in Tralee and see do they do 'em.
