    Hi all
Due to recent back problems I find I can no longer get comfortable in my 2001 Skoda Fabia (60000 miles). I need to get something bigger and with plenty of adjust on the seats. I want to trade the Skoda and add about 3000 Euro. Anyone have any suggestions about what to go for?
All help appreciated, thanks in advance,
    Corner Back

Not so sure that "bigger" is the answer to your problem.

I would suggest "higher" instead. Some MPV type vehicle that has a very upright seating position, where you sit more like on a chair with your feet below your bum and not at the same height as in most "normal" cars.

Do a few "sittings" first before you decide.

    MPV is an acronym of
    M
    ales Post Vasectomisation/Castration
    Male Parents Victimised
    Mind Painfully Vacant

So no they are not cool!!!

Am a long way from being cool myself just dont want people thinking I'm married with kids as I pass in my spacewagon! I like the idea of a Saab but being used to a 1.4 car I am wondering if the running costs of a 2.0lt car will be too much for me? Also are Saabs these days Vectras with a different body?

Vectras with a different body ...well, essentially, yes ...

They're not too bad really and the engine has a nice configuration with the low pressure turbo giving 150 bhp and very useable torque in the right areas.
Very economical too (30 -35 mpg) for a two litre.

Very comfortable driving position and generally a nice car to be in (you just have to love the dashboards !)

As long as you stick with the base turbo and point out to your insurance company that it is the 150 bhp "ecoturbo" and not some fully blown version, you should be alright insurancewise.

You're not going to get a "big" car in 1.4 or even 1.6 and as far as 2 litre cars go, in my opinion a second hand Saab offers very good value for money.

But try one for size and make up your own mind.

Have been doing some more research, does anyone have any opinions on or experience of Honda HRV? Reckon I could strech the budget to reach 2001 model

How tall are you? I sat in a few HRVs when I was looking for my last car and found them to be very cramped and awkward. Though saying that I am 6'4" and quite big so it may have just been me. By very cramped I mean on the verge of being un-drive-able-ible.

SAAB are known to have some of the best seats in the business. I saw a medical programme on RTE a few years ago where a specialist advised people with back problems to buy a SAAB.

volvo s60 rocks when it comes to comfort, even the hardened sports suspension with the low profile 17s , get the winter pack and the heated leather seats help a bit too. Some great used models about

PS I am 6ft 4 and the seat ajustment is top

Don't buy a HRV, neighbour bought one and had to trade it 2 months later because it CAUSED back pain to surface

If you want to stay small, the Yaris is fairly tall (more headroom than a Scenic....I've the same problem and have been looking), but again...not cool,

I'll probably end up with a Corolla, fairly roomy up above!!

Thanks for all the help so far but I have one final question. Having ruled out MPV's, HRV's and 2.0lt saloons (not enough milage to justify running costs), does anyone know which medium saloon (1.3 -1.6 lt) has the most adjustable/comfortable seats?
