Looking good in Skerries at the moment. The wind has been up all evening and I've just started to see some very light snow in the past few minutes. Nothing really dropping though, seems to be carried along in the wind. It could be sleet but doesn't look like it.

Thanks Felix.. We can only live in hope I suppose! :D

.2 rise in temp to 2.5C, seems to have gotten a little windier, so maybe thats the reason, DAMN cold out!! Yet still it rains :(, if we do get snow it'd want to be pretty heavy to stick now, the ground is well soaked.

Edit: I see the M2 buoy dew point has dropped back to -2.4C from -1.9C earlier, that cant be bad eh.

    Really raining now.

    Damn cold.

No chance of snow though I reckon, just seems to be rainy.

I blame the clouds going in opposite directions meself.

I'm just up the road in Lusk and still clear here  I think there is a snow shield here though, two years ago lots were posting snow reports and I was looking out the window at rain (with a tear in my eye :D )

A tiny few specs of precip on the car..

Although the main band wont arrive for at least 2 more hours.

No chance of lying snow here now although the risk was never that high:rolleyes:. Temp managed to drop to 3.9C:eek:  but is now rising again and everthing's soaked:(

Given the current situation Weathercheck, ie the temps at the moment, rain/snow reports, are things going as planned? Or what can we expect in the coming hours?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,726 ✭✭✭✭DMC

Little bit of rain in Dublin 24 a few minutes ago, dry at present.

Its a good sign that the precip hasnt reached Dublin yet imho - longer its stalled south the more chance of it being snow as it pushes north.

Its coming down nicely now and settling here but afraid to post pics so won't.

Wind is picking up more sleet now but everywhere is very wet, its going to take a lot for me to any kind of accumulations now!

Why are people so deprerssed, in most places temps are falling, reports close to you a little higer up are telling of snow..and temps are dropping..it can only lead to one thing......

Admittedly i was thing the same when Tristrame told me it was snowing close to him and not to panic..and its snowed here

WC and many others said this would be snow at around midnight..its only nine now..and temps are dropping..keep the faith..

Interesting though on the news just now they are still showing gritters out around Dublin and the reporter commented on the fact of rain clearing through shortly before the band of snow comes in about 2 hours...this was a live report, not one made earlier

Well at least it is a straw to clutch.. and probably directed from the met.

But its unlikely there will be "significant" snow now.:)

Temp now 0.2°C and its snowing (and settling - sound of everything changed to that lovely snow muffling..) nicely.

WC, polish that snowdepth ruler, you might still need it by morning!

Drove up to croghan mountain there.
It's snowing like mad above 800ft and the wind must be above 40mph on the mountain road through the wood.
At least 3 inches there already ,building and drifting.I got out of there almost as soon as I got there as I was on my own.
God knows what it will be like up there when the heavier band passes through shortly.

In less than 5 minutes, the bonnet roof and windscreen of my jeep was plastered in snow.

    What a contrast!

Heavy sleet in Carlow with the VERY odd snow flake, everywhere is saturated now, hard to see any snow sticking if it comes.

yeah it looked to be wet in Dublin from that news report showing the council getting the snow ploughs in action, even if it snows elsewhere in the country I think there'll be egg on the faces of met eireann from many Dubliner's especially after the council putting all this preparation into the road gritters

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 79 ✭✭Ryanoneill2006

Dont panic Weathercheck... Ireland won, that can only mean on thing.... Lots of snow tonight :D:D Dont Give hope!!!

if it doesn't happen, to me, it shows its hard to predict accurate snowfall here.

    The night is young. :)
