a friend of mine's living in an apartment and the landlord has set up broadband a bit weirdly. they were using the phone socket for adsl but he took out the phone socket and fed in an ethernet cable from his adsl router into my friend's apartment.

he wants to be able to plug this cable into a wireless switch or something like that so he can connect the 3 computers in the apartment to the network.

so basically it goes telephone socket to router to wireless router to computers. what's the best way to do this or is it doable?

What you are looking for is a wireless Access Point(AP). This normally has one ethernet port where you plug your router into. Configure the wireless as 'infrastructure', set up DHCP and security and you should be good to go!

Alternatively, he could connect a switch/hub to the cable and connect the computers to that with cables. Would be much cheaper.
