Saw one of these in traffic this morn, red in colour. Was a couple of cars ahead of me in the other lane (wanted to say fastlane to get some people going :D )
Have to say the rear end has an almost 'concept car' look to it - you know something you would see as a design sketch, but doesnt make it to the production stage. I might be stretching it here a bit, but the rear light clusters/shoulders had an almost 'squashed Enzo' appearance.
Side view showed a somewhat slabby big door.
Attractive ? its a grower methinks
Spiritual successor to the 1800 coupe? possibly.
Either way, fair play to Volvo, having deisgned generations (240/760 et al) of cars on an Etch-A-Sketch
Anyone else seen a C30 knocking about? What you think of 'em?

I quite like the C30, even though I don't fall within the target demographic, not being female and all that. I think it's evolutionary rather than revolutionary and will probably be the car that the 480ES should have been

if it hadn't suffered the misery of having the chassis of a 440, poor renault engines and electronics that would have made an italian cry. I've always had a soft spot for the styling of the 480, but I suppose it was a victim of it's era, but even if ford had owned volvo back then, it could have been a tarted up MKIV escort which certainly wouldn't have made it any better!

The 480ES had slipped my mind, god doesnt it look very dated in those pics..
Not a car you see too many of nowadays, a schoolfriends mother had one in the 80s. Its most un-Volvo like in looks (for the time)

I think the C30 is a cracking looking car.
And the XC50 ?? (baby xc90) I see in the pipeline is a stunner also, and thanks to their new owners the dynamics of these will be good too I suspect (focus floorpans etc).
I like the look of the new SUV type thingy so much I am gonna have a kid just so we can buy one ( need some reason and in mean time excuse not to) :D

    ??????
While they might appeal to ladies - bieing good looking, how many are gonna drool over the T5 or D5 ? I doubt these would be made if their target demographic was girls!

I dunno, If I wanted a Ford Focus, I wouldn't pay that kind of money

I'm also quite fond of the C30, looks good and doesn't seem to expensive.

I agree partly, in that the price is very close to the S40 (maybe only 10% more), but I disagree on it only being a Ford Focus (which is a fantastic start to begin with).
That 'Its a Ford Focus' debate is discussed to death on these sites. Why would anyone pay the money for an A3/A4, Passat, Golf, GTi, Seat, Cupra ..... when you could just buy a Skoda! Its all choice.

The C30 is a very stylish car. Thats not to say I think its an attractive car; theres something about that rear that'll take getting used to. Even the Volvo animated ad's show a person that the C30 makes them sick :o)

I'm not convinced. I don't get the whole S40 idea either.

Saw one in the flesh today, and I have to say, it's a nice looking motor. Definately have one before an A3.
