Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi,

i read somewhere a few years back that there was a digital camcorder available that played old 8mm tapes as well as digital. Anyone know

I have a load of old 8mm tapes that i want to convert myself to DVD. I dont have an 8mm camcorder anymore, coz the one i had died.

Does anyone know of such a digital camcorder ? or anyo other way of doing it ?

I dont want to bring it to a company to do it because its unedited and i dont want it all, therefore its easier if i do it myself.

Any Sony Digital8 Handycams I've seen will playback normal Video8 tapes. Many of these will have FireWire connections - however, I don't know if they will output the analogue tapes through that. They've been selling them since the late '90s - don't know if there's a lot of new ones available now though.

Digital8 is pretty much the same as MiniDV, it's just they use bigger 8mm cassettes instead of the MiniDV ones.
