Does anyone have a rough idea of the participation numbers for youths in American playing American football? ie How many people under the age of sixteen typically get a good number of practices at playing American football at school or local team level.

Impossible to get full figures. As you have pee-wee football both in schools and outside schools. High School football. Just put it this way you there is a few thousand High schools in New York City and surrounding area if you take an average of 50 kids per school etc etc. You are looking at millions of kids. You would never be able to obtain a full figure.

But from the age of 5 upwards you can play softball/baseball Football Soccer and basketball in most districts in the US. The percentage would be same in ratio as GAA here or soccer.
