Toilet flush no longer activates water pump - why?

    Well, it's as simple as this. Two-bed apartment, typical water pump installation in hotpress with insulated immersion heater low and water tank high. Worked like a charm for years. Suddenly, without any work, intentional or otherwise, done on any component, the toilet flush, which used to trigger the water pump into sending water to the bathroom, doesn't triigger anymore. The other triggers in the bathroom (sink taps, bath taps) still work fine.

    Any ideas before I have to call the plumber?...

    Ball valve partially blocked, meaning insufficient flow to trigger pump switch.

    Thanks for the tip!

    I didn't do anything in the mean time - the trigger was fixed by itself 2-3 weeks afterwards. Probably anything that was temporarily blocking the pipes got flushed somehow... we'll never know!

    Your problem maybe if you have a negative head pump.
    These pumps have a vessel attached ,usually a red or blue balloon shaped container. The vessel may have lost pressure and need to be topped up ,there should be a car valve on it.
    Theres also usually a setting on the pump that you can set as to when the pump is triggered. A small flat headed screw is usually the method.
