Honestly?Who knows the national anthem?

So who out of you can say you know the Irish National Anthem and be honest! I do(yay) but i was at the munster final last year... And i was shocked to hear the people around me mumbling " la la la la la" through the whole anthem! Not even my Dad knew it all(and he was in the Army) and I was shocked! We bitch about reviving…

I know it, at least I know the national anthem part of the song, I never learned the verses of the whole song, although after reading this thread I think I'll learn the rest of the song. I honestly can't see why some people have a problem with it. They say its too militant. Most national anthems are. I mean look at the French one there that hagar posted. "That thier impure blood, should water our fileds", if I didn't know better I'd think that was the Nazi German national anthem. The full english one is the same in parts thiers a line "And like a torrent rush, Rebellious Scots to crush." Apart from that the rest of it is about how much they love some old German lady. I think Amhrán na bhFiann is very poetic in how it's written, and when played and sang quickly I think it is one of the better national anthems musically.
