Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Laptop Screen Problem

I don't really know anything about computer hardware so any help would be appreciated.

My problem started about three weeks ago, my laptop screen seemed to gradually go fuzzy, it was as though all the pixles had shifted over a little and were overlapping etc making a jumbled screen. That time I just restarted and then everything was fine. About a week later it happened again although this time I just adjusted the angle it was open and that seemed to work. Now it is happenning quite regularly and has gotten worse. The latest is that it goes fuzzy as described then the screen goes crazy before the entire thing is almost blank. If i simply lift it off my lap and put it back down it solves this. Leading me to believe I could be putting pressure on a cable somewhere or maybe covering a fan.

Anyone got any ideas what could be causing this? It's a HP Pavilion laptop.

You could try plugging in an external monitor and see if you get the same results on that.

Seems fine when i hook it up to an external monitor... It deffinately seems to be just a screen problem, when it goes fuzzy the more i pull it down, towards the keyboard, the more it clears up. The further i push it back, away from the keyboard, the more fuzzy it seems to get.

Maybe the cable between the screen and mainboard is breaking, or not connecting properly, the repeated opening and closing of the lid can eventually weaken the wires and cause them to break, or if your lucky maybe the connection has worked its way loose and needs to be reseated.

You know, the more I hear about HP laptops, the more I wonder WTF that company is up to (I have a HP Pavillion too, and didn't have a good experience with it).

Anyway, it certainly sounds like a physical problem as opposed to a software/driver problem. Is it still under warranty? That should be your first port of call.

Also, Google it to see if it is a common problem.
