Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

360 - advice

    Hey all,
I've been reading all the threads re 360's breaking down etc. And, it's got me thinking.

I bought a 360 last August. And I've recently become more concerned with it. I posted before about it crashing games half way through and telling me that perfectly clean (in one case, brand new out of the box) discs are dirty or faulty. Restarting the console fixes this but it still does it every so often.

And last night I started up the 360 and it gave me a screen with a message saying that this disc needed to be put into a X-box 360 console to play.

What?? It was Oblivion and I'd been playing it no problem an hour beforehand. The disc hadn't left the machine. I turned it on and off twice and it solved the problem.

The drive on my console is very VERY loud (alot louder than a friends 360 and he bought his the day before mine). And last night it was making a whining noise - at least I'm assuming it was the drive. After around 20 mins the noise disappeared.

But I'm left thinking.. while it's still in warranty, should I seek a replacement? These errors are rare enough (once/twice a week) but they seem to be creeping up. But are they even grounds to seek redress/replacement? They don't always occur and a technician could well play around with it and not see any errors.

    Cheers,
    Quad

Sounds like it could be worth paying the €100 or whatever it is for the extended support

I have had all of the same problems on and off with my console as well, which I think I got around about last May. I also sometimes get a E74? error on starting up the console or this video output does not appear and I have to turn it off and back on again. Whilst this is all its doing, and is not actually getting any more frequent than it ever was though I cannot really be bothered with worrying too much about it or paying MS more money for so warranty where they would send me out a second hand xbox as a replacement in the event of a failure.

I get the E74 error sometimes as well, it even happened the first time I turned it on. Usually what happens is: one red light and E74 error, turn off Xbox and turn it back on and it works but the display is scrambled, turn it off and on again and it'd grand. Tis fairly annoying
