That sounds like a wager. Shall we start at say 500 old pounds?

I've gone to a race meeting many times and not had a single bet.

Poker is a GAME. There's a mustard forum under rec ffs. Just give poker more prominence in Games. End Thread.

I vote this post be stricken from the record on the grounds that the M forum was mentioned.

    STRICKENED I SAY!

On the topic of moving crap around I say move Poker out of my gound damned catagory. Stinks the place up so it does. God damned poker playing bastards with their fancy cards and fake money! THERE'LL ALL GOIN TO HELL! And I don't want them terkin ma god durned catagory down with it.

Where can I post if I think fade2black is not qualified to be a mod. He's almost always insulting and seems to go out of his way to cause arguments, from my experience. Very unprofessional imo.

NOTE: I would not qualify as a mod either as I bear many of the same characteristics.

Thread in Feedback tbh, but you've got to remember that outside the forums he moderates, hes just another user like you or me. So long as hes doing a good job of moderating said forums, no complaint can be made really.

I do agree that the poker forum could be given more prominence under Games though, its a very active forum and we've people joining Boards specifically to use the poker forum. Given that theres so many forums on Boards, finding the forum may be a bit of a problem for some so I suppose it would make things easier.

Pokers a game and should be kept under Games.

    :D You took the bait

Seriously though some meetings I just go up to watch some good races. The majority of meetings I would have some small bets but others I would just go up to see my favourite horses in action, just like going to watch a soccer match. you can bet on soccer matches so it's just the same in my opinion.

That's a game, it's not a sport, I don't think it should be under sports either.

Any game where a fat bastard downing pints in a pub can be considered an athletic competitor is not a sport and it's a joke in my opinion.

You can all get upset at me for that, but frankly I don't give a crap.

And All rugby players are hino drinking thugs who beat up fans in the stand or maybe each other

i don't think Amz want to be mod of darts. Amz is the sports catagory mod not the pub games mod. Amz doesn't consider darts a sport and tbh neither do I.

Maybe it should be moved to real world games.

Calling you a ****** would get me banned so i won't:rolleyes:

Why should poker be a hard to find subdivision? If poker is the fifth biggest forum it must be a candidate for a separate heading.

Poker as a game of skill or chance, gambling or certainty, is being discussed by posters who are expert poker players and by posters who (I assume) have only a vague idea of poker. Poker is listed as a sub-section of Games->Real World Games (a very strange description). Game Editing is a major heading under Games yet does nor have any posts.

Some sports/activities could be classified under a number of headings. Horse Racing is a sport with trophies for named races that have been held annually for hundreds of years (much longer than the modern Olympics); a business for the trainers, jockeys, bookmakers, stable staff, and a gamble for the once-a-year racegoer or betting shop player who do not treat it as seriously as a professional gambler. Poker also has many facets, but does that matter? It is a big volume section and should be visible.

    I suggest this boards layout

    Arts
    Biz
    Edu
    Games
    Hosted
    Music
    Poker …… <--- new location
    Rec
    Region
    Sci
    Soc
    Sports
    Tech
    Sys

This is being discussed by the admins and poker will be moved to Games or Rec most likely with a softlink in the dropdown that doesnt have the forum itself. Easier to demonstrate then to explain.
Sorry, we simply decided to do it this way as clearly consensus wasnt forth coming and while some people here decide to have a handbag fight we've decided on a solution.

    DeV.

Brilliant stuff. Any chance of getting a sub-domain too? poker.boards.ie? Can't see this being hard to set up. Or am I over stepping the mark?

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators Posts: 10,501 Mod ✭✭✭✭ecksor

It has been done for other forums in the past. I don't see any good reason not to apart from my default inclination to not add new configuration changes until we move to new servers.
