    Hi,

I am currently trying to decide on a budget 256 MB graphics card.

    I am currently considering the:

    GeForce FX5500 256 MB (PCi)
    ATI RADEON 9250 256MB (PCI)
ATI RADEON 9600 XT 256 MB (AGP)
GeForce 7300 GS 256 MB (PCI Express)

Any input on it, or any other suggestions? I don't wanna spend more then 80 Euro, and it has to be capable of supporting 2 monitors.

    Cheers,
    DubDani

Well this depends, What motherboard do you have?

As a pci-e card wont work if you have a agp motherboard. and vice versa.

Also, do you plan on playing new games ? or older games?

And what are the rest of your system specs.

I have a fairly basic ASRock 775Dual-VSTA Motherboard. It has a AGP and PCI-E slot.

I am not big into the latest games and have no use for a high end card.

The system is a Pentium Dual Core with 2 GB of DDR2 667 RAM and 2 250 GB SATA Harddrives.

Personally i would take the 7300gs Pci-e card. As it is a much better performer.

The 7300GS or 9600Xt are the best on that list but both not great.

80 euro will get you a decent second hand card, much better then either of those two. Although if you're only playing older games, either would be perfectly fine.

    I have a 256mb boxed 6600 pci-e for sale on adverts if you're interested...:D

If you are not playing games then Why does it need ot be 256 mb?

If you are not playing games then Why does it need ot be 256 mb?

Multi-display scenarios & a few other things non game related may use the RAM really given the low cost there isn't a strong case not to buy anything without 256MB of these days.

    but wouldnt a 6600gt be better then a 9600xt?

Yes that is correct but my comment was more in general.

Get a 7600GS it comes with 256MB of RAM and performance matches the 6600GT & at a reasonable price. Or for a little bit more get a fan less version for lower noise output.

    Thanks for your input.

After doing some more research I slightly changed my mind and ordered a new Geforce 7300GT for about 65 Euro.
