Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

England to play less friendlies

England have scaled down their schedule of friendly matches from 20 to 18 over the four-year period from 2008.

Coach Steve McClaren had made it clear that he was in favour of scrapping some in favour of longer training camps.

"I want the flexibility to be able to control when we have friendlies," said McClaren. "The key thing for me is getting more time with the players.

"If more time means get-togethers with no end result and we achieve something, yes, I would like that."

OK, that means he gets 8 more days with his players over a four year period. Woopy-do!

Anyway, is there a benefit to reducing the number of games in favour of coaching get togethers? Leaving aside Fr Dougal's mismanagement of our own side, would more time to work on tactics work in a side's favour?

Bit cocky isnt he assuming he will have a job by then.

Top 4 managers will be happy with this , but the others wont when they realise the B internationals are coming back.

Players are still gonna be asked to attend though, OK so no 90 minutes of boring football, but still plenty of scope for injury etc.
