Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

i think his point was it doesn't matter whether you are a fan of daft punk or not.
what they did was done a million times before and will be done again and again and again. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. end of argument.

And here's a nice video demonstrating all those electronics, videos, lighting, mixing etc at work. I especially love the little touch at the end, they sure know how to put on a show!

Live CD of the Alive Tour 2007 coming out in November, should be good. The mixes on the tour have been excellent.

i think what is really important to note here is that Daft Punk undeniably made a concentrated effort to give the impression that they were composers/songwriter/musicians/etc, and not sample based artists.

Look at any of their album sleeves and you'll see things like 'all songs by daft punk' and 'all guitars played by daft punk' printed in far bigger text than the smallprint saying 'track x contains a sample of blah blah blah'

This is what really gets to me about this whole thing. If there's nothing wrong with sampling the bejaysus out of something, why make a concentrated effort to pass the work off as your own (which is clearly what they did)?

I really like a lot of sample-based music, and have no problem with sampling per se, but Daft Punk were clearly not comfortable enough with being sample-based artists (a la Lemon Jelly, BOC, etc.) to actually state explicitly that that was what they were.
