How would I go about finding the fuel consumption of a particular car? At the moment I'm looking for numbers for the Open Astra G 1.7d van, but it's be great if there was a general resource out there where I could search by year, make, model, etc.

Try about 40-45 mpg depending on how 'White Van Man' you are!

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Is it the old 1.7TD or the very frugal new 1.7DTi?

Official mix figures are 5.9l/100km and 4.4l/100km

You should easily get 50MPG on the DTi outside Dublin

The Dti was introduced in 2000 I think

Those Astra's have the ISUZU Diesel engine and they are a pure mizer on Diesel, my father drives a Vauxhall Cavalier (UK Import) and it has the Isuzu 1.7 and it is very efficient getting an average of between 650 to 700mls per 60litre tank. Very efficient and has 206,000 miles on the clock, it is a 1994 and ideal for the back roads down here where I wouldn't dare venture with my beemer.

It is an estate type van like the one below right?

I'd hazard a guess this is what you are looking at if earlier than 01:

    And this if after 01:

Those are estates though. Rear doors, glass, seats, etc. Presumably the MPG would be better again.

Probably, but it gives you a ball park notion.

I would'nt get too hung up on the fuel ecomony, you only need to be late for a delivery and you'll blow the savings differential!
