I'm still waiting for the second part of the 1942: Perl Harbour trilogy WiiWare game - loved the first one but haven't heard anything of the second - anyone else know anything about that?

Its a brilliant game, but playing games like 1942 and Black Tiger 10 years ago on MAME has soured my desire to spend €8 on the Virtual Console version.

If it was a fiver, it might have been more of an impulse buy.

To be honest, I never usually know what I spend on the online shop games, I've not been sober buying a game from it yet!

    :)

At last! Pity I've no DSi to play it though :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,529 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

    Seriously? :p

I know nothing about the game (other than "retr0 sez its gud"), but after reading these reviews, I think I'll be grabbing this tonight.

The best way to describe Shantae: Risky's Revenge is a 2-D version of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Incredible art, well developed and puzzled filled dungeons, and an emphasis on unlocking new items and abilities in order to progress.

    Sold.

The Gameboy Colour was rather amazing and considering how brilliant Way Forwards 2D games have been and the reviews for this I presumed it was great :)

Playing Shantae on and off for the last 2 weeks. I'm on the last tower now (about 3 hours in, maybe?). Decent enough game, but I don't know if I'll speed run it for the proper ending.

Anyway, last week and this week's releases combined....

Puzzle to Go Planets and Universe (500)
    Faceez: Monsters! (200)

    VC

Love the BIT.TRIP games, but BTF looks triiiicky! :)

Its just pathetic really isn't it. XBLA has this market all but sown up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,529 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

Yep, I've bought about 5 XBLA games since the start of the year (about €50-€60 worth)

I'd pay money to see the Nintendo's sales spreadsheet for their digital download games. I honestly think some of them would struggle to break 100 sales.

I think Apple/Android do it best, to be honest. Polished games for less than a couple of euro, making money by volume rather than price. Regular (free) updates adding new features and levels.

I know I keep harping on about it, but €5 for a virtual fireplace. Seriously.
Compare that with €0.79 for Angry Birds, Tiny Wings, Land-a Panda....

Well the last WiiWare game of interest was Cave Story and that was before xmas, just this past month there has been Stacking, Hard Corp uprising and a couple of others on XBLA/PSN. Its all Mahjong games and 5 in 1 solitaire stuff on nintendo, such a waste.

I read today that River City Ransom 2 is in development for WiiWare, everyone knows River City Ransom 2 is already out, its called Scott Pilgrim The Game, its great and its on XBLA and PSN.

I think Hydroventure has been a good buy for me anyway. Somethin a bit different. Agree though, fairly paltry offerings from Nintendo really.
